Yue Xin is an undergraduate student studying Indonesian language at Peking University. She loves painting and writing and always cares about social affairs. When she got to know the fact about the former teacher of Peking University Shen Yang’s 「sexual harassment」 to a female student which led to her death, Yue decided to not let the similar things ever happened again in hercampus.
Therefore, she writes an open letter to the university authority in accordance with the university’s regulation of opening the information to the public. In her letter, she asks for the measures thatthe university takes on preventing sexual harassment in campus.
Shen Yang’s case that was recently dug outby online users drew great public attention and outcry to the lack of transparency of educational institute. Under this pressure, Peking University immediately established special committee to discuss about the establishment of anti-sexual harassment system, claiming that they are taking this issue veryseriously. The students like Yue Xin who paid attention to this case also received praise from PKU for their good awareness and responsibility as astudent of PKU.
Nevertheless, Yue Xin revealed today in a letter about the truth that has been concealed to the public today (April 23), claiming that she was being pressed by PKU about her open letter, which is regarded asthe act opposing university. Yue said that she and her mother were threatened by PKU and she is now unable to go to school and her mother has almost been driven mad.

Teachers and students of Peking University:
I am Yue Xin of the 2014 foreign language institute. I was one of the eight students who submitted the application for information disclosure to Peking University on the morning of April 9th. I dragged my tired body down to write down the words that had recently happened to me.
After April 9, I continued to be interviewed by my college teachers and leaders, and lasted two to one or two in the morning. During the conversation, the teacher repeatedly referred to "whether you can graduate successfully", "how to do this your mother and grandma", "the teacher has the right not to contact your parents directly." However, I am preparing my graduation thesis recently, and frequent interruptions and subsequent psychological pressure have seriously affected my thesis writing.
At noon on April 20, I received a reply from the school. The secretary of the party committee of the school of foreign languages, the student teacher and the head teacher were present. The secretary of the party committee read to me the school's reply to the application for this information disclosure:
1. The meeting level of shenyang normal university is not recorded.
2. The investigation results of the public security bureau are not in the school's management scope.
3. The contents of the public review in shenyang were not found due to the failure of Chinese department's work.
I was disappointed by the response. But my graduation thesis submission is about to end. I can only focus on my thesis writing.
At about 11:00 PM on April 22, the counselor called me suddenly, but I didn't get it because it was late. 1:00, the counselor and mother suddenly came to my dormitory, force will I wake up, asked me to delete all related to information public event in the mobile phone, computer, and after Yu Tianliang to labor in the teacher make a written guarantee that no longer involved. Students on the same floor can testify. Later, I was brought home by my parents, so I can't go back to school.
My mother and I stayed up all night. The school distorted the facts when contacting the mother, causing her mother to be overly frightened and emotionally broken. What is the crime of applying for information? I have done nothing wrong, and I will not regret having submitted the application for information disclosure to exercise my glorious rights as a student of Peking University.
I love my mother for twenty years. I was bleeding in the face of her wailing, slapping, pleading, suicide. In her supplication, I can only return to my home for a while, but the principle is unreachable, and compromise cannot solve any problem. I have no choice but to write this statement and state the original.
Please forgive me for being so emotional.
Here, I hereby make the following appeals to the school of foreign languages of Peking University:
1, Peking University school of foreign languages should be publicly written instructions over my parents pressure, to the dorm in the morning to interview me, and asked me to delete the application is based on the information disclosure of related information of rules and regulations, illegal operation to clear this process, and take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
2, Peking University school of foreign languages shall be immediately stop all of my family pressure behavior, had terrified mother formal apology to me and clarify the facts, help repair family tensions caused by the incident.
3. The school of foreign languages of Peking University must make a written guarantee that it will not affect my graduation, and will not continue to interfere with my thesis writing process.
4. The school of foreign languages of Peking University is responsible for the elimination of all other adverse effects on my study, future employment and my family.
5. The school of foreign languages of Peking University should make a clear and written reply to the above requests, and give an account to everyone concerned.
I will keep further related to individual and unit liability shall be pursued through legal means all the rights, including but not limited to the Peking University school of foreign languages, and the competent department to report a serious violation of the rules of behavior.

PS: As this article is being written, more and more articles about this letter in Chinese have been taken offline by authorities. Yet, there is always sacrifice to make for the progress of transparency and openiness of educational institute in China. The action that concealing the darkness of the campus by telling lies to public cannot be tolerated, especially at the top university of our nation when our government advocates a society of credibility and trust. Yue Xin is innocent. All she does is to ask for more openness of her campus for a better environment and she was treated harshly and unfairly. And when her situation was concealed meaningfuly from Internet, things is getting ugly, and the general public has the right to know about this.
