He then changed into overalls and spent the next eight hours as a dustman. Before returning home at night. He took a shower and changed back into his suit. Alf did this for over two years and his fellow dustmen kept his secret. Alf's wife has never discovered that she married a dustman and she never will, for Alf has just found another job. He will soon be working in an office. He will be earning only half as much as he used to, but he feels that his rise in status is well worth the loss of money. From now on, he will wear a suit all day and others will call him 'Mr. Bloggs', not 'Alf'.

今日文章解讀：
He will be earning only half as much as he used to, but he feels that his rise in status is well worth the loss of money. From now on, he will wear a suit all day and others will call him 'Mr. Bloggs', not 'Alf'.
他將來掙的錢只有他現在的一半。不過他覺得，地位升高了，損失點兒錢也值得。從此，艾爾弗可以一天到晚穿西服了。別人將稱呼他為「布洛格斯先生」，而不再叫他「艾爾弗」了。
（1）將來進行時的用法
He will be earning …這是將來進行時的表現形式。
將來進行時一般用來表示將來某時刻會進行的動作。比如：
At this time tomorrow we shall be waiting for you at school. 明天的這個時候，我們將會在學校等你。
一般這種將來進行時的用法也經常用在口語中，用於強調即將發生的事情。
（2）as … as
as … as的用法前面的章節有講過，今天不重複了。在今天的文章的，as much as 可以看為「和…一樣多」。連起來as much as he used to，used to後面省略了earn，這個小分句就是跟他原來賺的錢一樣多。但前面又多了一個half，表示一半，比如half an hour就是半個鐘。所以這個句子意思就是他只能賺原來的一半錢了。
這裡用的是一半half來修飾後面的as much as，同樣可以使用倍數來修飾，比如twice，three times等。表示倍數的時候注意，就是一般超過2倍後，就可以使用times來清晰的表達倍數關係。當然也可以使用以下單詞來表示對應的倍數：
twice 二倍；triple 三倍；decuple 十倍；centuplicate 百倍；
方便起見，一般3倍的時候就可以使用times來表達了。
而times作為time的複數，可以表示「時代」，比如：ancient times 上古時代，Times Square 時代廣場等
（3）from now on
from now on的意思是「從現在起，從此」。用來作時間狀語。常見的還有form today， from this week等。
（4）補充昨天的spend，花費
昨天我們有講spend一些大家不知道的用法，常規的表示花費，我一筆帶過了。結果有粉絲來問，spend和cost的區別。
cost做動詞也表示花費，有的同學會誤用，比如有同學想表達我花了10塊錢：
I cost 10 Yuan. 這就用錯了，因為cost的主語必須是物，不能是人。
It cost me 10 Yuan.表示這個東西花了我10塊錢。這才是cost的正確用法。或者使用spend來說：I spend 10 Yuan on it.
