[說明] conversation 指兩個或兩個以上的人互相交換意見或看法，也指平常的聊天在內。 dialogue 比conversation更為正式，作「對話」解時，尤指對話體的作品、戲劇中的對白、小說中的對話；作「談話」解時，指有意見的雙方進行交換意見。如：
Can you understand the short dialogue between Hamlet and the gravedigger?（你能理解哈姆雷特和掘墓人之間的那段簡短的對白嗎？）
2．Wearing shabby clothes, the young man was laughed at by the shop assistant . Knowing that the young man was a millionaire, the shop assistant smiled with satisfaction. 由於衣衫破爛，那個年輕人受到了店員的嘲笑。當店員知道他是一個百萬富翁後，又滿意地笑了。
[說明]Laugh和 smile都有「笑」的意思。 laugh 指出聲地大笑，多作不及物動詞用。laugh at含有貶義，指「嘲笑」。 smile 是指不出聲的笑，常表示愉快、親切、友好等。
