alongside 詳解

1. alongside 的基本用法

①alongside 可用作介詞。在…旁邊（=next to）；沿著…的邊(=along)

He crossed the street and walked alongside Central Park.Put your bike alongside mine. (next to)
將你的腳踏車放在我旁邊。The dog ran alongside his mistress.
狗在女主人的身邊奔跑。We tied the boat up alongside the quay.
我們把船停泊在碼頭處。He picked the napkin from his lap and placed it alongside his plate 他拿起腿上的餐巾，放在盤子旁邊。
Their car drew alongside ours. The children walked alongside the street. 

② alongside 可用作介詞。與…一起（together with）;與…同時

If one thing exists or develops alongside another, the two things exist or develop together at the same time.如果一件事與另一件事同時存在或發展，這兩件事同時存在或發展。Her self-confidence will develop alongside her technique.They found themselves working alongside the young people with similar values.Most of the staff refused to work alongside the new team.(together with)
大多數員工拒絕與新團隊一起工作。Put this cloth alongside real silk, and youwill at once see the difference.

2. alongside與along的區別

①along：指沿著與其賓語所指事物平行的方向，尤指沿著細長或狹窄的物體，如走廊、公路等alongside：強調「與…並排」，多用於指「船舶，車」等並排靠攏著。alongside後常跟人Soon we were driving along a narrow road.You'll pick up some valuable tips along the way.Many cargo ships are berthed alongside the wharf, waitingto be unloaded.As we were waiting at the traffic light, another car drew up alongside ours.當我們的車在交通信號燈前等候的時候,另一輛汽車在我們的車旁停了下 .I have to join them and fight alongside these men.② along 只是沿著，而alongside強調沿著...邊上，在...旁邊。如Walk along the beach.
沿著沙灘散步。A car pulled up alongside us.
一輛車停在我們旁邊。

3. alongside的其它用法

①alongside作副詞時,在…的側面,在…旁邊,與…並排That police car pulled up alongside.
那輛警車在旁邊停下。The boat came alongside.
船靠岸了。Nick caught up with me and rode alongside.An old woman riding a small bike came alongside. He waited several minutes for a car to pullup alongside.

對比:

作副詞時along的意思是「帶著；與一起；來到」。Come to the party and bring your girlfriend along.
請來參加聚會並帶上你的女朋友。I took my camera along.
我帶了照相機去。The morning was along.
近中午了。

4. alongside 的固定搭配
