1. close to 的基本用法

①close to (距離等)接近於,在…附近

His house is close to the factory.The hotel is situated close to the beach. Most urban areas are close to a park. I sat close to my father.

② close to (抽象意義上) 接近於,將近

The children are close to each other in age. The new library is close to completion. The only one who's close to the truth is my mother. Drought has left more than two million people close to starvation .Animal welfare is a subject very close to my heart. The team is close to bottom of the League. The total was close to 20% of his income.She knew she was close to death. 

注意:

1) close to sb 有時指關係近,關係親密She is very close to her father. 2) be close to doing sth 將要做某事We are close to signing the agreement.
