7、against all the odds
釋義：儘管有極大的困難
例句：We won against all the odds.
儘管困難重重,我們還是贏了。
8、all manner of
釋義：形形色色的
例句：To be a pilot in the Mississippi River gave young Twain an opportunity to meet all manner of people.
在密西西比河上做領航員給青年吐溫一個結識形形色色的人的機會。
9、amazed at
釋義：對……感到詫異
例句：He was amazed at the result.
他對於結果感到詫異。
10、answer for
釋義：受到懲罰
例句：He will have to answer for his violent behavior in court.
他將為他的暴力行為在法庭上受到懲罰。
11、approve of
釋義:贊同
例句:I can't approve of their killing animals.
我不贊成他們殺動物。

In favor of 的用法就是直接做狀語，算是一個固定搭配了吧。
=in exchange for another thing(更好和更需要的事物)
He abandoned teaching in favor of a career as a musician.
他不當老師，改做音樂了。
5. as:第一個as是一個副詞，表示「正如」或者就是表示一種強調：
例句：He remained unmoved as before.
他如以往那樣無動於衷。
第二個as 是代詞；因為reflect 是及物動詞，需要賓語；
這裡不是大家熟悉的as…as…結構
你們熟悉的As …as 結構是這樣的：
1）He is as tall as his father.
第一個as是副詞，第二個as是介詞。
（都知道副詞+形容詞；介詞+名詞吧）
2）He looks as ill as he sounded on the phone.
這裡第一個as是副詞，第二個as是連詞。
因為連詞+完整的句子：He sounded on the phone 是完整的句子。
（我們現在就知道as一共有四種詞性了：代詞，副詞，連詞，介詞；）

切分:
1.狀語從句：

為了方便你們理解，我們簡化一下句子：
regularity and conformity to a standard pattern= A
(有同學問前面為什麼不加The，零冠詞的時候多得是，你不要嘗試著都搞懂，冠詞用法能寫篇博士論文了，咱又不當語法家。他怎麼寫，咱就怎麼看，咱不當好奇寶寶，不影響咱做題的。麼麼噠。)

再切分：

科學家的論文反應了一種A，如果對於科學家而言，這種A 正是科學家想要的。
把A帶進去：
科學家的論文反應了一種對於標準模板的遵守和認同，如果對於科學家而言，這種對於標準模板的遵守和認同正是他們所想要的。
（這種譯本是最容易理解的。）
合併一下：
如果在科學家的論文中所反應出的對於標準模板的遵守和認同正是其所想得到的話。
（這種譯本更流暢，更簡潔。）
2.主句：
Nor 置於句首引起句子倒裝，所以先還原主句：
（nor習慣放在句首，還原到句中以後習慣換為not,當然也可以不換。）

再切分：
1）Management is not to be blamed
2）for discriminating against the "odd balls" among researchers
3）in favor of more conventional thinkers who work well with the team.
參考譯文1：那麼，就不應該因為管理者歧視研究者中的怪咖(思維與眾不同的人)而更喜歡能更好和團隊合作的傳統的思考者，而指責管理層了。
參考譯文2：那麼(我們)就不應該指責管理層「歧視研究者中的怪咖而更喜歡善於團隊合作的傳統的思考者」了。
整句譯文：
如果科學家的論文寫作反應了對於標準化模板的遵從和認同，(而且)這種遵從和認同又正是(as)科學家所渴望和願意(desirable)的，那麼(我們)就不應該指責管理層「歧視研究者中的怪咖(思維與眾不同的人)而更喜歡善於團隊合作的傳統的思考者」了。
