Grammar Target: 「bored」 & 「boring」; 「excited」 & 「exciting」; 「tired」 and 「tiring」.
Adjectives that end in -ed are often used to describe how people feel. Adjectives that end in -ing are often used to describe things and situations.
以「-ed」結尾的形容詞常用來描述人的感受。以「-ing」結尾的形容詞常用來描述某件事或某個情境。
1．exciting vs. excited
✓ I had an exciting dream last night. In the dream, I became a superhero and saved my city.
ⅹ I had an excited dream last night. In the dream, I became a superhero and saved my city.
中文釋義: 昨晚我做了一個令人激動的夢。在夢裡，我變成了超級英雄，拯救了我的城市。
✓ I was excited that I became a superhero in my dream last night and I saved my city.
ⅹ I was exciting that I became a superhero in my dream last night and I saved my city.
中文釋義: 我感到很激動。昨晚在夢裡我變成了一個超級英雄，並拯救了我的城市。
2． boring vs. bored
✓ The movie I saw last night was so boring that it put me right to sleep.
ⅹ The movie I saw last night was so bored that it put me right to sleep.
中文釋義：昨晚的電影太無聊了，我看著看著就直接睡著了。
✓ I was bored by the movie I saw last night that I fell asleep.
ⅹ I was boring by the movie I saw last night that I fell asleep.
中文釋義：昨晚的電影讓我覺得很無聊以致於睡著了。
3．tiring vs. tired
✓ I don’t sleep well when I am too tired. I need to take some sleeping pills.
ⅹ I don’t sleep well when I am too tiring. I need to take some sleeping pills.
中文釋義：我太累的時候睡不好。我需要吃點幫助睡眠的藥。
✓ It is so tiring to have nightmares every night, although I don’t remember any of them.
ⅹ It is so tired to have nightmares every night, although I don’t remember any of them.
中文釋義：每晚都做噩夢真累，儘管我一個都不記得。
