Beside:
next to or very close to the side of someone or something
（挨著某個人或事物，或者距離極短）

所以你會發現，beside更精確的意思是「在……旁邊」。

1. I was standing right beside her at the time.
（我當時就站在她的身邊）
2. Wendy came up and sat beside me.
（Wendy過來坐在了我的旁邊）
3. The chair is beside the table.
（椅子就在桌子邊）
