　　一、基本區別

　　1. forget 通常指忘記具體的東西(如名字、號碼、地址等)，forget about 後者通常指忘記一件事情(如開會、學習、吃飯、鎖門等)。比較：

　　I forget her name. 我把她的名字給忘了。

　　Don't forget about your study. 別忘了學習。

　　They were so busy that they even forgot about their own meals. 他們忙得連飯都忘記吃。

　　有時兩者可換用，尤其是表示「不要把…放在心上」時。如：

　　He forgot (about) her birthday. 他把她的生日忘了。

　　Let's forget (about) our differences. 咱們不要把彼此的分歧放在心上。

　　2.表示「忘記做某事」，除可用 forget to do sth 外，有時也可用 forget about doing sth。如：

　　She had forgotten all about posting the letter. 她把寄信的事忘得一乾二淨。

　　另外，一般現在時的forget後可直接跟動名詞表示忘記做過某事，但一般過去時的forgot後接動名詞時，則通常會先接介詞about(有時也有不用about的)。如：

　　I forgot about doing it. 我忘記已做此事了。

　　二、forget (about) it在口語中的用法

　　口語中說forget (about) it有以下用法：

　　① 用於回答感謝，意為「不客氣」。如：

　　A：Thank you very much for your help. 多謝你的幫助。

　　B：Forget about it. 不用謝。

　　② 用於回答道歉，意為「沒關係」。如：

　　A：I'm sorry for what I said. 我為我所說的話道歉。

　　B：Forget it! I don't remember anyway. 沒關係，反正我也沒有記住。

　　③ 用於表示否定或拒絕，意為「不行」。如：

　　A：I'll take the small truck. 我要開那輛小卡車。

　　B：And leave me to drive the other one? Forget it. 啊，讓我開另外那輛? 不行不行。

　　④ 用於表示不想提及某情況或指某情況無關緊要等。如：

　　A：How much do I owe you? 我欠你多少錢?

　　B：Forget it! 算了吧!
