The semi-finals and finals of the 12th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students are organized by Confucius Institute Headquarters and Henan Provincial People’s Government.10月10日，第十二屆「漢語橋」世界中學生中文比賽複賽決賽新聞發布會在河南省人民政府新聞辦公室舉行。第十二屆「漢語橋」世界中學生中文比賽複賽決賽由孔子學院總部、河南省人民政府主辦。

Zhao Guocheng, Deputy Director-General of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Yin Hongbin, Deputy Secretary-General of Henan Provincial People's Government, Diao Yuhua, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Henan Province, and Sun Xiaohong, Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government attended the press conference. Diao Yuhua and Sun Xiaohong introduced the achievements of Henan Province in international promotion of Chinese and the highlights of this year's competition.

孔子學院總部副總幹事趙國成、河南省人民政府副秘書長尹洪斌、省教育廳副廳長刁玉華、鄭州市人民政府副市長孫曉紅等相關領導出席新聞發布會。刁玉華、孫曉紅分別介紹河南省漢語國際推廣取得的成績以及本屆賽事活動的亮點。

With the theme of "Learning Chinese, Creating Brighter Future", the competition aims to provide a platform for young students from different countries to show their Chinese language proficiency and communicate with each other, so as to stimulate their enthusiasm in learning Chinese, enhance their understanding of Chinese culture and promote friendship among students from different countries. 第十二屆「漢語橋」世界中學生中文比賽以「攜手漢語，築夢未來」為主題，旨在為各國學習漢語的青少年學生提供一個展示漢語能力、互相學習交流的平臺，以激勵大家學漢語的熱情，增進其對中華文化的理解，促進各國學子之間的友誼。

According to the report, the qualifying rounds of the 12th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students were held in 121 regions around the world from March to September this year. Participants are all middle school students aged 15 to 20 who are not of Chinese nationality and whose mother tongue is not Chinese. Among them, more than 120 qualified players will gather in Beijing and Henan from October 18 to November 2, 2019, to participate in the semi-finals and finals.據介紹，2019年3月至9月，第十二屆「漢語橋」世界中學生中文比賽預選賽在全球121個賽區相繼舉行，參加比賽的選手都是15至20歲、非中國國籍、母語非漢語的中學生。其中，有超過120名通過海外預選賽晉級的選手將於2019年10月18日至11月2日匯聚在北京、河南參加此次比賽的複賽、決賽。

It is learned that the competition mainly assesses the comprehensive learning and practical application of Chinese language and culture based on the contestants' proficiency in spoken Chinese, knowledge of China's national conditions, and mastery of Chinese culture. The contest will determine 1 grand champion, 5 continental champions, 5 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 15 third prizes. In addition, there are 5 individual awards, including Award of Eloquence, Best Style Award, Best Creative Award, Best Performance Award and Best Popularity Award.

據悉，比賽主要以選手表達漢語口語的流暢度、了解中國國情知識的程度、掌握中華文化技能的水平為評判標準，重點考核選手的漢語語言文化綜合學習和實際運用能力。比賽將決出總冠軍1名、洲冠軍5名、一等獎5名、二等獎5名、三等獎15名。此外還有單項獎5名，包括最佳口才獎、最佳風採獎、最佳創意獎、最佳表演獎和最佳人氣獎。

Second, the race venue is not limited to the studio. In addition to the regular video questions, the players will come to Songyang Academy, one of the four ancient academies in China, at the foot of Songshan Mountain, to start the "first lesson in the central plains" featuring both knowledge and interest presented in lectures, assignments, and graduation exams. Third, in the finals, there will be a team of defenders for the first time, and a more competitive minority versus majority defeat system will be introduced so as to motivate the contestants and further shape their personal images, and attract more people to participate in the competition. Fourth, the event is focused on the new era. In addition to Chinese traditional culture, it will present the gratifying changes in Chinese people's daily life today thanks to the modernization, technology and information, the Chinese culture in the new era that is constantly communicating with the rest of the world, opening up and changing based on the Chinese traditional culture, as well as the attention to and love for Chinese culture from people all over the world.本屆比賽包括四大亮點：第一，賽事的整體題目設計將依託河南豐厚的文化底蘊，以漢字之源、禮儀之源、姓氏之源、功夫之源、科技之源、戲曲之源等作為主題逐一展開，呈現「華夏文明之源，黃河文化之魂」的韻味與魅力；第二，比賽不拘泥於演播室，除常規的視頻出題外，還將來到天下之中、中嶽嵩山腳下，在中國古代四大書院之一的嵩陽書院，開啟一堂包含傳道授課、課後作業、畢業考試為一體，兼具知識性與趣味性的「中原第一課」；第三，在總決賽中，將首次設置守擂團，引入對抗更激烈的少數對陣多數的擊敗體賽制，旨在達到更極致地激發選手實力、更有力地塑造選手形象，以吸引更多人參與的目標和效果。第四，賽事內容貼近新時代，除了展現中國傳統文化外，還將著力展現今日中國在現代化、科技化、信息化下，給人民生活帶來的可喜變化。呈現以中國傳統文化為基礎，與世界各國不斷交流，不斷開放，不斷蛻變的中國新時代文化。展示全世界友人對豐厚又獨具魅力的漢語文化的關注和喜愛。

In April 2019, President Xi Jinping pointed out in the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation that 「we should build bridges for different civilizations to learn from each other and deepen cooperation in education, science, culture, sports, tourism, health and archaeology. We will continue to implement the Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Program, and hold the Belt and Road Forum for Youth Creativity and Heritage, and Chinese Bridge summer camp for young students.」2019年4月，國家主席習近平在第二屆「一帶一路」國際合作高峰論壇的重要講話中指出：「我們要積極架設不同文明互學互鑑的橋梁，深入開展教育、科學、文化、體育、旅遊、衛生、考古等各領域人文合作。我們將持續實施『絲綢之路』中國政府獎學金項目，舉辦『一帶一路』青年創意與遺產論壇、青年學生『漢語橋』夏令營等活動。」

Based on language competition and cultural exchange, the Chinese Bridge competition aims to enhance the interaction between Chinese and foreign youth and promote people-to-people exchanges. When it started in 2002, there were only 49 competitors from 21 countries and regions. Now it has attracted millions of teenagers from more than 150 countries and regions to participate in the qualifier. More than 6,000 contestants from all over the world have come to China to participate in the finals, interpreting the charm of Chinese language and culture in their own way.
