Welcome back!

We have always been near, though far away; we have always been close, even if distant; we have always been reaching out, while never grasping; and we have always been waiting to greet all of you again.


Normally I would say to you 「Welcome back!」, though I suspect I』ll likely need to find a different phrase to say, a phrase more in keeping with the manner of my character. Perhaps I』ll say 「Oh! Not you again」, but then my mask will be hiding my wily smile, so then I may ask 「Are you a student here? I don’t remember you」, but then again my mask will be concealing my deadpan delivery. Better yet, I should not say a word; simply narrow the focus of my eyes as I gaze studiously into yours as I try to guess which one of our magnificent elevens are you. It all invites the question, how do I best say 「Welcome back」?
