The fifth prototype of China's large passenger airliner C919 has completed its maiden flight recently in Shanghai.國產大飛機C919 第五架飛機近日在上海完成了首次試飛。
英語原文The domestically made trunk jet took off at around 10:00 a.m. on Oct 29th from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and returned after 1 hour and 37 minutes.
The prototype is mainly undertaking tests covering temperature tolerance, the environment control system, electricity generation and full-aircraft draining.
The C919 completed a maiden flight in Shanghai on May 5, 2017.
With many test flight missions accomplished, the jumbo jet plans to get an airworthiness certificate from the country's civil aviation authorities in 2021.
According to the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, the manufacturer, the twin-engine narrow-body trunk jetliner will benchmark against Boeing and Airbus airliners as it goes into operation.
The manufacturer has so far received more than 800 orders for the C919 planes and one more test flight is expected this year.
