Elimination與exclusion有什麼區別?
Elimination與exclusion中文含義都表示 「排除」, 但實際上兩者內涵完全不同,一起來了解:
1.elimination表示的含義是 「排除，消除, 淘汰」, 強調「將本已合在一起的東西剔除掉」:
For the elimination of indoor air odour, so make the air fresh.
用於室內空氣異味的消除, 使空氣更清新自然.
The ASEAN has achieved a significant progress in the elimination of tariffs.
東協在取消關稅方面取得了很大的進展.
The World Cup gave him a mixed feeling. It was a beautiful experience, but the elimination came too early.
這次世界盃之旅對他的感覺很複雜。那真的是一次美好的體驗,但是荷蘭隊過早的淘汰出局也很遺憾。
2.exclusion表示的含義是「排斥，不讓……進入」, 強調「在某物合成之前, 將其排除掉」, 通常與介詞from進行搭配使用:

Distribute和dispense都可以表示 「分發, 分配」的意思, 但內涵有所不同, 一起來了解:
1. distribute表示的含義是 「分發, 分布, 分配」, 強調 「每個份額是相等的」:
The firm should distribute on the principle of equal pay for equal work.
公司應按照同工同酬的原則進行分配.
The fly paper will have no effect since you distribute it haphazardly.
你如此濫發廣告傳單,沒有一點針對性,是不會有什麼效果的.
There are over 35 000 species of orchid distributed throughout the world.

2. dispense表示的含義是 「分配,分給;發放」, 強調 「強調分配各每一個人」; 此外, dispense也可以表示「配藥, 發藥」:
They dispensed new clothes to the children in the orphanage.
他們把新衣服發給孤兒院的小孩們。
At least 10 centers for needy families regularly dispense free groceries to them in the Cleveland suburbs.

雖然flap和wave都可以表示 「揮舞, 揮動」的意思, 但兩者在內涵上有很大差異:
1.flap表示的意思是 「拍動, 撲動」, 尤指「煽動翅膀」, 強調「上下揮舞的節奏非常快」:
The heron flapped off across the lake.
那白鷺振翅向湖對岸飛去。
The gale flapped the flags.
強風使旗子啪噠啪噠地飄動。
A light flapped over the scene, as if reflected from phosphorescent wings crossing the sky, and a rumble filled the air.
一道閃電划過長空,宛如橫空飛過的閃著磷光的翅翼,隨即,空中滾過了隆隆的沉雷。
2. wave表示的含義是 「波動;搖擺,飄揚」 或 「揮手, 招手」的意思, 強調 「平和緩慢地左右搖擺」:
At courtship time, he waves it to attract females,often with a beckoning movement, or to fight rival males.
求偶期間,雄蟹會揮動大蟹鉗,吸引雌蟹注意,或擊退情敵。
A third said they would often wave their hands instead of saying 『thank you』.

Imaginary和imaginative都表示「想像的」這一意思嗎?
Imaginary和imaginative都可以表示 「想像的」這一意思, 但兩者內涵差異明顯:
1.imaginary表示的含義是 「想像中存在的」, 強調 「不真實的, 虛構的, 杜撰的」:

雖然daunt和discourage都可以表示 「氣餒」的意思, 但兩者內涵完全不同, 一起來比較:
1.daunt通常強調的是 「因特別困難或危險心生畏懼而不去做」, 因此可以翻譯成 「威嚇,使氣餒」:
He felt completely daunted by the difficulties that faced him.
他對面臨的困難感到完全的氣餒.
At an MBA fair in New York I felt daunted by the number of programmes.
在紐約的一次MBA展會上,參展課程的數量之多讓我心生畏懼。
Future healthcare costs in a world of greatly increased longevity are daunting.

2.discourage也表示 「使…氣餒」, 但僅僅強調「失去信心, 勇氣, 至於做沒做並不重要:
