The dividing line is not totally uncrossable.
If more people cross the dividing line,
will the dividing line disappear?

On April 27, 2018, starting at 9:29 a.m. local time, Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Council of Korea, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, stood on both sides of the military demarcation line and took each other's hands; until 10:15, the two parties formally began their talks. During this 46 minutes, they chatted with each other and talked about national events as well as personal interests.
Yoon Young-chan, the Chief Secretary of National communications of Cheong Wa Dae, recounted the dialogue between the leaders of the DPRK and South Korea at the press conference of the Panmunjom News Center. "China News Weekly" hereby reproduced part of the dialogue accordingly.
9:29am
When they first met
You (cross the border and) come to South Korea, but when can I cross it to your side?
At this time, Kim Jong-un had just crossed the military demarcation line to the side of the South Korean. Heard this remark, he took Moon's hand and crossed the military demarcation line to the side of the DPRK.
Then cross it now.
9:35am
When passing the honor guard salutation
Foreign countries also like the traditional honor guards, but the traditional honor guard that is shown to you today is in a simplified format, for which, I have some regrets. And if you can come to Cheong Wa Dae, I will show you more exciting one.
Ah, is that so? If you, the president, invite me to Cheong Wa Dae, I will go whenever you ask.
9:38am
After reviewing the honor guards
After the ceremony of honor guards is over, some of them will go back (to North Korea).
Well, before going back, let’s take a picture, with all the entourages of our two countries come together.
9:41am
After arriving at Peace House
What technique is this painting drawn? (pointing to a painting of Bukhansan hanging on the front of the hall)
This is a Western painting, but it was painted using the techniques of our Oriental painting.
9:48am
After entering the meeting space
The work was created with the texts of the Hun Min Jong Um created by King Sejong the Great. Here, (ancient text) represents the meaning of mutual dredging, and the lines contain emotions. The four words (ancient text) are the meaning of creation. Here, they are marked with special marks and have the meaning of mutual communication between the two sides. Therefore, the root signific 「ᄆ」 represents the character 「Moon」 of the president's last name, and "ᄀ" represents the character 「Kim」 of the Chairman’s last name. (Pointing to a work on the wall of the site named Hun Min Jong Um)
Even the smallest details are so thoughtful.
How did you get here?
I left in the early hours, traveled by car, passing through Kaesong. Did you leave early in the morning?
I just traveled 52 kilometers, about an hour away.
Mr. President, because of our reasons, you must be not having a good rest (for some time). It may be customary (for you) to get up in the early morning. (laugh)
When the Council Chairman Kim met the delegation of our special envoy, you had an assurance statement that allowed me to put my mind in peace.
Then I must confirm whether the president has taken a good rest. (laugh)
Only, the distance of 200 meters, how it looks so far, and why it is so difficult. originally I thought I would meet President Moon in Pyongyang, but it is better to meet here. This is a symbolic place, with many people’s expectations. On my way here, I thought about people who lost their hometown, people who fled North Korea, residents of the Yeonpyeong Island, and people who worried about the resurgence of war. They must all be full of expectations for our talks today.
Today’s talks are a precious opportunity and hopefully it will be an opportunity to heal the wounds between the two countries. The dividing line is not totally uncrossable If more people cross the dividing line, will the dividing line disappear?
When I left from Cheong Wa Dae, many people were standing on both sides of the road to send me away. This shows that the people are very much looking forward to the talks today. The residents of Dacheng Dong (located on the South Korean side of the military demarcation line) also took pictures and commemorated for this meeting. We have a heavy burden on our shoulders. Today, we begin at Panmunjon, and it would be nice to meet again, at Pyongyang, Seoul, Jeju Island and Baitou Mountain.
At this time, Moon pointed at the two paintings hung in front of the venue.
The left one is Changbai Waterfall, and the right one is Jeju Seongsan Sunrise Peak.
President Moon seems to know Baitou Mountain better than I do.
I haven't been to Baitou Mountain, but there are many people who go to Changbai Mountain in China. I hope to go to North Korea's Baitou Mountain to take a look.
If the President Moon wants to come, to tell the truth, I fear that our transportation system is not yet available. People who have been to the Pyeongchang Olympics say that the high-speed trains in Pyeongchang are very good and the conditions in South Korea are also good. If you come to North Korea as it is now, I might feel a little ambarrassing. Wait for us to be prepared and we can make you more comfortable when you come.
In the future, if the North Korea and the South Korea can connect the railways, both the DPRK and ROK can have high-speed trains. Originally, there were relevant contents in the 6.15 and 10.4 letters of agreement. However, it has not been implemented in the past ten years. This is indeed regrettable. The wise decision of Chairman Kim made it possible to reconnect the blood lines that have been cut off for ten years.
Expectations are large and there are skeptical opinions. After the general agreement was negotiated, it failed to be implemented for ten years. Some people also thinks that it is doubtful whether the results of our talks today can be implemented.
Although I traveled a short distance today, it really took eleven years. What we have not done in eleven years has been achieved through more than one hundred days of unremitting efforts.
This is a firm will, and there is nothing that cannot be done by joining hands.
I was thinking that if the President meets with me here, will it not feel inconvenient, but I feel relieved by the special envoy's communication in advance. It is important to trust each other.
Deputy Minister Kim has become a star in South Korea. (Pointing to Kim Jong-un's younger sister, Kim Yo-jong, the first Deputy Minister of the Korean Workers』 Party Central Committee)
Kim Yo-jong blushed, and everyone laughed.
The protagonists of today are Chairman Kim and me. Past failures should be taken as a lesson. Past talks reached an agreement in the middle or end of the governing period, and due to the change of power the agreement could not be realized. But I have been in the office for just one year. During my term of office, from the Chairman Kim’s New Year’s speech to today’s meeting, it’s good to continue our pace of progress.
The department of the Deputy Minister Kim Yo-jong has had such a saying, and the Maxima, Quick Battle. It can also be used to describe the speed of reunification between the two Koreas.
Everyone laughed again.
The most important thing to look back at in the past was speed.
From now on we can often meet, and make up our mind that we can never return to the origin point, and let us create a beautiful world that we can live up to. Let us end the history of confrontation and jointly solve the problems between us. I believe there must be a better future.
On the issue of the peninsula, we are the protagonists. Our nation should walk with the world. We should make concerted efforts to catch up with our neighbors.
