學生怎樣做,才能讓教授寫一封高水平的推薦信(附ROL模板)

對於想要申請國外高校的同學們來說，推薦信至關重要。因為推薦信是申請材料中唯一由了解申請人的第三者所寫的材料，它更為客觀地對申請人的學習成績、學術能力、課外活動等做出的評價。那麼，如何寫好一封推薦信呢？

一般來說， 申請美國法學院需要提交至少兩封推薦信。其中至少一封應該關於你的學習經歷。 如果你正在工作， 尤其是法律相關的工作，那麼你還應該提交一封來自了解你工作能力的人的推薦信。（比如你的上司）

有些時候你可能需要在一個比較了解你，跟你關係比較好的推薦人，和一個沒那麼了解你但是職位比較高的推薦人中做選擇。記住，你的推薦信不應該重複講你的簡歷或者成績單上已經很明顯的東西。 推薦人最好能夠帶來一些別的故事/例子來幫助錄取委員會評價你的申請材料。否則，你的推薦信就沒什麼用處了。所以，一個職位很高但跟你互動很少的人的推薦信也可能不會對你的申請有什麼幫助。至少，如果你想要問一個不太了解你的教授拿推薦信，最好能夠約教授見面，跟他/她聊聊你做了什麼東西以及你為什麼想要在美國學習法律。

這裡列舉哈佛的推薦信規定供參考：

「Recommendations should come from those who have had an opportunity to evaluate you carefully and individually over a sufficient period of time. We strongly recommend that at least one letter of recommendation come from an academic source. However, letters from employers or others who have worked closely with you can be very helpful, particularly if you have been out of school for many years."

Our experience is that two thoughtfully selected recommenders are likely to be more effective than several chosen less carefully. Your application will be treated as complete with two letters of recommendation."

如果可以的話，找一個在美國學習過法律或者在美國工作過的教授或者上司。 因為這樣他們就可以評價你的語言能力，你在美國學習法律，以及在美國工作的能力。如果你的推薦人沒有在國外學習過法律， 招生委員會可能不會太看重這個推薦人的意見。另外， 最好能找那些給你高評價的， 能把你和她/他以前學生比較的教授，工作的上司也一樣。 找那些跟你合作密切，能評價你工作能力和人際交往能力的上司來寫推薦信。

在美國學習過的人一般英文能力也比較好， 這對寫推薦信也有幫助。很多教授可能沒有足夠的英文水平來自己寫推薦信。 我的觀點是，做一些修改潤色來去除語法錯誤是可以接受的。潤色的程度由你自己決定。 但是，教授的語氣別人是能分辯出來的， 如果修改潤色太多的話可能別人會覺得這個推薦信不是教授自己寫的。

1、將提前擬好的PS初稿發給教授

你的推薦信和ps最好能夠有一些聯繫。比如你在ps 裡面談到自己的學習或者工作上的成果，這時候如果有人能從另外一個角度來評價你的學習或者工作能力，這樣的推薦信就能給你加分不少。比如你喜歡公司法， 你就應該去找一個能夠評價你的興趣和專業水平的教授。 如果你參加模擬法庭，那麼你可能會希望有教授能在推薦信裡評價你在模擬法庭的表現。

所以， 如果你能儘早地完成ps，然後把ps發給你的教授， 他們或許就可以配合你ps裡面想要表達的東西。當然， 在提交申請之前，你都是可以修改你的ps的。

2、加入適當的潤色

好的推薦信可以有一些熱情的表揚。 通常我們不會在自己的ps裡自吹自擂。但是如果教授能在推薦信裡誇你還是很不錯的。 比如教授可以說：「這個學生可能是我教過的最優秀的學生。「但是如果你在自己的ps裡誇自己就會顯得比較自大了

3、採用具體詳細的例子

除了熱情的表揚之外，好的推薦信還應該有具體詳細的例子來支持為什麼你有能力在美國學習法律。 詳細的例子是推薦信裡必要的， 如果這些例子能夠支持你ps裡的東西就更好了。 你的推薦信和ps應該要有相似的主題，只不過從不同的角度來提供支持而已。

以下是推薦信模板（上司版）：

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is XX, and I am the XX of the XX. I am writing this letter for XX, an outstanding intern who worked closely with me for six months from XX to XX at the XX. I wholeheartedly support her application for your prestigious XX program, as she is one of the best interns that XX has ever had.

I came to know XX in 2013. Her XX left a great impression on me. In XX, she was selected to intern at the XX. I was delighted to know that she would be given the chance to apply her knowledge of XX law in the XX process.

Before the end of her first month on the job, XX had already proven herself capable of taking on significant and substantive tasks. Her XX and her XX were so exceptional that I decided to give her more challenging work. She was soon involved in handling XX, attending XX meetings, and assisting with drafting XX. Throughout her internship, XX displayed the incredible capacity to do XX.

During her internship at the XX, XX left me with an excellent impression of her solid theoretical knowledge, practical skills and professional potential.  I have spoken with her about her plans to pursue further legal study in the XX, and I am very supportive of her decision.
