比如今天，所長要講的 how come 。單詞依次翻譯：怎麼來的；然而這個翻譯和詞組how come一點關係都沒有。
how come的意思是：為什麼

為什麼「為什麼」不用why，而用how come?
why 和 how come
1：辨析
why 在日常交流表達中，多指一些非常讓人無法理解的情緒、現象或問題等；在美劇的強烈情緒表達、娛樂綜藝節目（脫口秀）的對話中多發現why。
how come 則多出現在日常的對話中，除了表示為什麼的語義含義之外，多了一種關心的意味。

3：how come 是怎麼來的？
how come 被認為是how did it come about that or how comes it的縮寫；
比如在英國詩人埃德蒙斯賓塞(Edmund Spenser 1552—1599)有一首詩中，是這樣寫的：
My love is like to ice, and I to fire；How comes it then that this her cold so greatIs not dissolved through my so hot desire,But harder grows the more I her entreat!Orhow comes it that my exceeding heatIs not delayed by her heart-frozen cold；
我的戀人象寒冰一快，然而我卻象烈火一團；為什麼烈火不能把凍結阻斷？為什麼寒冰不能讓燃燒減緩？
縮寫其實在英語中很常見的一種現象了，像漢字的簡化的一樣，
Pantaloons 縮減成 pants；
omnibus 變成了 bus
how comes it that 就變成了 how come；
