汝窯瓷釉基本色調是一種淡淡的天青色，俗稱"鴨蛋殼青色"，釉層不厚，隨造型的轉折變化，呈現濃淡深淺的層次變化。釉面開裂紋片，多為錯落有致的極細紋片，透明無色似冰裂，俗稱為"蟹爪紋"。汝窯瓷器底款有刻"奉華"和"蔡"字的兩種，應為後刻，當為宋時所刻，均與宋宮廷和皇室相關。汝窯瓷器以釉色取勝，少見花紋裝飾，但汝窯未燒貢瓷以前，曾有刻花和印花產品，如寶豐汝窯遺址曾發掘出刻花鵝頸瓶，當為汝窯未成為官窯以前的產品。
The basic color of Ru kiln porcelain glaze is a light azure color, commonly known as "duck eggshell cyan". 汝窯瓷器傳世最少，且後代從未仿燒到九成像者，鑑別真偽不是很難，尤其是記住汝窯的主要特徵，更不會輕易上當。除胎釉、支釘痕外，汝窯瓷器至今未有高度超過30釐米、圓器口徑超過20釐米的完整傳世品。汝窯未燒造官窯瓷以前也曾生產青瓷，同時也生產磁州窯類型產品，真正的汝官窯產品，傳世的僅見70餘件。歷代墓葬中時至今日未見出土一件汝官窯瓷，故鑑定汝窯瓷器時一定要慎重考慮各種因素。尤其是汝窯青釉器也有類似汝官窯的，但那是民窯所產，與汝官窯是兩碼事。
