「driving seat」可不是「駕駛座」!

兩個人去餐廳吃飯，一進門可以說，

"Let me grab a seat."

seat 的引申義之一：角色

I have a seat on the board of directors.

我是董事會的一員。

seat 的引申義之二：地位

如果哪一天你老闆任命你"in the driving seat"，不是讓你去開車，而是說讓你 to be in charge or in control of a situation，全權負責某一件事位於管理的職位。

而我們以為的那個「駕駛座」，更多的是被說成「driver's seat」

同樣，有主位就有次位，次位的表達是「back seat」

我想退居次位。（不再擔任重要職位）
