>Cathedral's spire will be restored
The spire of Notre Dame cathedral, which was destroyed in a fire last April, will be restored according to the original Gothic design.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced the decision, putting an end to speculation that the spire would be rebuilt in a modern style.
Macron had previously hinted he was in favor of a "contemporary gesture".
However he has said he wants the restoration to be completed by 2024, when Paris is hosting the Olympics.
The Elysée said Macron's main concern was "not delaying the reconstruction and making it complicated - things had to be cleared up quickly".
It added that the process of designing a modern spire, with an international competition for architects, could have caused unnecessary delays.

>Covid immunity is short-lived
People who have recovered from Covid-19 may lose their immunity to the disease within months, according to research, suggesting the virus could reinfect people year after year, like common colds.
Blood tests revealed that while 60% of people marshaled a "potent" antibody response at the height of their battle with the virus, only 17% retained the same potency three months later.
Antibody levels fell as much as 23-fold over the period.
In some cases, they became undetectable.
Prof Jonathan Heeney, a virologist at the University of Cambridge, said the study confirmed a growing body of evidence that immunity to Covid-19 is short-lived.
"Most importantly, it puts another nail in the coffin of the dangerous concept of herd immunity," he said.

>Fauci sidelined by White House
Despite his leading role in the US fight against COVID-19, top infectious diseases expert Anthony Fauci has been sidelined by the White House, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.
Citing a senior White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the Post reported that Fauci "no longer briefs US President Trump and is never in the Oval (Office) anymore."
According to the report, Fauci had not spoken to Trump since "the first week of June."
In a live stream event on July 7, Fauci warned against a "false narrative" of a falling COVID-19-related death rate even as Trump continued to tout alleged progress the US had made in tackling the COVID-19 outbreak by citing a falling US mortality rate.
In another interview with the Hill on Thursday, Fauci said that US states hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic should not be moving forward with reopening, another public rebuke of Trump, who had repeatedly downplayed the worsening COVID-19 outbreak in the country and encouraged states to quickly reopen their economies.

>Virus changes office clothing
Kiss your sharply-tailored menswear, your sheath dresses and high heels goodbye.
The new work-from-home reality has rapidly recalibrated the fashion code for professional wear.
"When Covid-19 hit and people were forced to work from home, there was an absolute halt in buying formal workwear," said Jessica Cadmus, a New York-based stylist. "The emphasis from my clients now is on polished loungewear, where the fit is not as tailored and comfort is key."
Her male clients, she said, are looking for new shirts but not trousers. "
They are not asking about sports coats, suits, or shoes. It's just shirts," she said. Women want statement necklaces, earrings and broaches instead of suits and dresses for a more put together look for video calls.
Some people aren't even changing out of their pajamas.
In June, 47% of consumers told market research firm NPD they are wearing the same clothes throughout most of their day while at home during the pandemic, and nearly a quarter said they liked wearing activewear, sleepwear, or loungewear most of the day.
