Today’s English will be short and simple. The mistake we fix today is so common! Every day I hear one of my students say it, for example 「I come to school after I off work」 or 「I work off now, so I』ll go shopping」 or "I』ll go home after off work.」 Wrong wrong and wrong. Do you know how to really say it?
今天的英語很短，並且很容易。我們今天解決的這個問題很常見！每天，我聽我的一個學生說這個，比如「我下班後來學校」或者是「我現在下班了，因此我將去購物」，再或者是「我下班後將會回家。」錯，錯，錯。你知道如何正確說這個嗎？
Off is not a verb "Off" 不是動詞
You can’t say 「I off.」 (Ex: I off work)
OFF不是一個動詞。因此你不能說「Ioff」。（例如：I off work我下班了）
We need a verb! The 「be」 verb. Add that, and you get 「I AM off work.」 Saying this describes the time after work, when you already left. But honestly, in native American English, we rarely say 「off work」 – we make it easier, and just say 「off.」
我們需要一個動詞--be動詞。加上be動詞後，你可以說「I AM off work.」（「我下班了」）用這個描述工作後，當你準備離開時的時間。
Examples:
I’m off at 7, so I』ll meet you at the bowling alley at 7:30.
我在7點鐘下班，因此我們7:30在保齡球館見。
When are you usually off? Maybe I can treat you to a drink?
你通常什麼時候下班？也許我可以請你喝一杯？
What about the verb? 那動詞呢?
But what about the 「action」 of leaving the job? For this, don’t use the "be" verb, you must use the verb 「get」.
但是關於下班的動作呢？對於這個，不要使用be動詞，你必須使用動詞「get」。
Examples:
Timmy goes to sing karaoke every day after he gets off work.
Timmy每天下班後都會去唱歌。
Jimmy got off work at 11pm last night. Poor guy, he worked for 32 hours.
Jimmy昨天晚上11點下班。可憐的傢伙，他工作了32個小時。
Finally, off isn’t an adverb that can describe work. So you can’t say 「I work off.」 That’s just a big no no. There’s no way to fix it, so forget about it.
最後要記得，off 不是一個可以描述工作的動詞。因此你不能說「I work off.」 那是絕對不行的。這種方式是無藥可救的，所以忘了它吧！
