「without question」是「沒問題」的意思嗎?當然不是!

昨天Ada和一位購買了正式課程的學員聊天，從詩詞歌賦聊到人生哲學，解決了同學的疑問之後，我說以後有什麼問題隨時還可以聯繫我。這位同學就給Ada回覆：without question。

這個時候必須要感嘆一下，英文真的是種奇妙的語言，很多時候一句話裡明明每個單詞都認識，但是放在一起意思卻不是那麼回事了。

看到「without question」，Ada的第一反應也是「沒問題」。但是一秒之後理智告訴我，這個用法是錯的！

without question

「without question」真正的意思是確定的，毫無疑問的。跟absolutely，no doubt相似，用來形容一件事非常確定，不用懷疑 。

△Mary is so hard working. She is without question the best in our company.

Mary特別努力，她絕對是公司最優秀的員工。

question

說起question，大家看到的第一反應就是「問題」，例如 I have a question.

剛剛我說過了，「question」有質疑的意思，在質疑之外，也就是毋庸置疑，」不可能「的意思！在這裡就等同於」impossible「的用法啦！

如果你和別人經過好久的討論，最終決定這件事是沒可能的，沒必要再說了的時候，就可以用「out of the question」。

call into question

」call into question「不要翻譯成」給問題打電話「！真正的意思是對…表示懷疑; 認為有問題。
