Although the Chinese word 「屁股」 is neutral and descriptive, its English counterparts are very diverse – they can be neutral, impolite, or even vulgar – depending on which word you choose.
1．Ass
Attention: Use this word with caution! 「Ass」 is a vulgar word, slightly better than the F word. Compound words with 「ass」 are usually very offensive.

If 「ass」 is offensive, which word should we use then?
2. Butt
「Butt」 is a neutral word. It is not offensive. A person has only one butt, which is short for 「buttocks」.
I have been riding bike all day long and my butt hurts!
Do not say 「my ass hurts」 or 「my asses hurt」 – it will be at the very least jaw-dropping and often offensive.
3. Bottom; behind
Two other euphemisms for 屁股 are 「bottom」 and 「behind」.
When he was sick, I helped to dress him, bathe him, and wipe his bottom after he used the bathroom.
In order to have my hemorrhoids checked, I had to show my behind to the doctor.
4. Spank
Did your parents spank you when you were a kid?
Spank: 打屁股. It already has the meaning of 屁股.
It is OK to say 「spank one’s bottom」, but do not say 「spank one’s ass」.
5. My ass!
To show that one does not believe what was just said. Similar to the Chinese interjection 屁！
– I won the Nobel Peace Prize.
