01 slim chance
slim除了苗條的、纖細的，還有微小的意思
所以當別人說slim chance，指機會渺茫的，是較為正式的用語。
常用搭配：
a slim chance of…
there's a slim chance…
例句：
They have a slim chance of winning the game.
他們贏得這場比賽的機會很小。
02fat chance
slim adj. 纖細的
fat adj. 肥胖的
既然slim chance是機會渺茫，那fat chance就是機會很大？
大錯特錯！
fat chance不但表示機會渺茫，甚至是沒戲、沒門(=not a chance)，比slim chance的機會還要小一點。
例句：
Do you really think I will forgive you? Fat chance.
你真的覺得我會原諒你嗎？門都沒有！
可能有些人會問：為什麼老外用「很肥」的機會表示 「沒機會」呢？
其實這是一種反諷。當某人對某件事期望過高，這時身邊人及時地提醒了一句「fat chance」，讓TA還是面對現實吧~
