今日詞組-respect, respectful, respective, respectively

今天我們繼續看一組詞彙， 拼寫相似， 但是意思相同。  

讓我們從最簡單的詞開始， 

respect:  他可以作為名詞和動詞使用，表達尊重，敬重

-He felt what he was being asked to do took away his dignity and self-respect/esteem. （名詞）

-respect social distancing （動詞）

除了敬重以外， 他還有另外一個意思， 即方面，細節 （a particular feature or detail)

-In most respects, the new film is better than the original. 

respective， 看上像是respect的形容詞形式， 其實不是的， respect 的形容詞為respectful. respective與敬重沒有一點關係。 

respective,即各自的，分別的 （relating or belonging to each of the separate people or things you have just mentioned） 

-This fashion scholarship was founded to bridge the gap between student needs and their respective incomes. 

respectively,為respective的副詞形式， 也表示各自和分別的意思

-Steven and James are aged 10 and 13 respectively.

-He attained an M. A. and a Ph.D. from Chicago University in 2012 and 2016 respectively. 

i上最後的1點 是一個荷蘭俗語 （de puntjes op de i zetten）， 字面的意思就是給i上面加最後1點。引申的含義就是把事情做到最完美。這也是這個小小英文學習公眾號的初衷， 完善大家英語中容易忽略混淆的細節， 完成i上最後的1點。
