經過近一個月的訓練，外國語學校2016屆高中直升班在英語學習方面取得了巨大的進步。從今天起，我們將開設《外國語學生英語習作欣賞》欄目，連續刊登他們平時的習作，供廣大讀者欣賞，同時激勵這些優秀的苗子進一步茁壯成長。

It’s a pleasure to help others

Helping others is happiness in my eye. It can makeboth of us pleased and satisfied, and can even build a friendship between thestrangers. Just as the saying goes, 「In helping others, we shall helpourselves.」 When a person has difficulty in something, an encouragement fromyou can make him feel powerful and cheer him up. Then if you feel stressed anddisappointed, he or she will come to inspire you and make you feel warm andconfident…. Helping others is mutual. So isn’t it a pleasure to help others?

Once I didn’t do well in a math exam. I got such a lowmark that most of my classmates』 scores were a lot higher than mine. Afterclass, I remained in my seat, looking sadly at those who had got high marksplaying outside happily. I felt so helpless and hopeless. All of a sudden, Iheard my friend’s voice 「Keep up your spirits! It’s just an exam. You can dobetter next time, I’m sure!」 How warm I felt at that time upon hearing theencouraging words! His words cheered me up and improved our friendship. Eversince then, I』ve found it a pleasure to help others and started to find chancesto do so. I』ve solved problems for my classmates, helped aged people take theirbags and so on and so forth. When I hear 「Thanks」 from them, I will feel veryhappy. Everything I have done is worthwhile.

There’re so many things for me to do, but helpingothers is my favorite. Isn’t it a pleasure to help others?

 

Teacher’s comments:

The class have been asked to write 「It’s a pleasure tohelp others」 and Lu Fanxiu has done well in the exercise. In the beginning, hepoints out the importance of and benefits from helping others. He follows thatwith an experience of his to illustrate what good deeds can do for others.Finally, he returns to the topic itself by asking 「Isn’t it a pleasure to helpothers?」
