不忘初心 奮鬥青春

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Today I want to share my story about my original aspiration and how I fight for it.
女士們、先生們，大家好。今天，我想和大家分享的是關於我自己的故事。
I was born and raised in Guangzhou Petrochemical Company of Sinopec, and thus constantly being influenced by seeing and hearing about what was happening in the oil industry. My family works for Sinopec. My grandpa was one of the founders and chief engineers of Guangzhou Petrochemical Company. He studied in the former Soviet Union in his early days.
我出生在廣州石化，長在廣州石化。從有記憶開始，幾乎全部的生活都與這座大廠有關。我的外公曾是廣石化的總工程師，早年被派往前蘇聯求學。
My grandpa used to say: 「The oil industry in China is facing increasing globalization. It operates in a dynamic environment that is growing more complex and competitive. The gap between China and the developed countries is big and the road ahead will be long.
當我還是個小女孩時，他就經常給我講建廠的故事，教育我要努力成長為一個對國家和社會有用的人。外公說，中國的石化行業與國際先進水平存在較大差距，鼓勵我要加油爭氣。
We have the responsibility to work not only for ourselves, but also for the betterment of our country. And there is nothing we cannot accomplish if we marry vision and passion with an enduring work ethic.」I believe these words profoundly influence everything in my life afterwards.
他說：「路漫漫其修遠，中國石油化工的未來靠的是你們年輕一代的上下求索。」外公的話，深深印在我的腦海裡。
Because of my family, especially my grandpa, I chose to pursue my career in petrochemical engineering at the very beginning. That is to say, to be a petrochemical engineer is my original aspiration.
我的人生就是這樣，從生命的開始到長成，都與石化聯繫在一起。成為一名石油工程師，為中國石化行業的未來貢獻自己的一點力量，成為了我的初心，也正因如此，在高考填志願時，我主動選擇了中國石油大學。
So, I went to China University of Petroleum in Beijing. I remember getting up early on winter mornings while my classmates were still asleep， and staying up every day to make the leap.
在大學的四年裡，我牢記初心，牢記長輩教誨，發奮努力學習。幾乎每天，我都踏著朝露迎著朝陽走向圖書館，戴著月光披著星光回到宿舍。這段日子雖然忙碌，但是卻非常充實。
But that’s not the end of the story. Even though I was awarded outstanding graduate and went to work in Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Company, the reality that the oil industry was in deep recession frustrated me. It was the year of 2015.
2015年，我畢業了，滿懷信心地走出校園，加入中石化上海工程公司。
In 2015, global economic recovery remained weak, domestic economic growth slowed down, international oil prices continued to swing at low levels and the market witnessed fierce competition. There were not many projects in 2015 in the oil industry.
剛走上工作崗位的我，時逢世界經濟深陷衰退，國際油價低位震蕩。在這樣嚴峻的形勢下，企業項目驟減。
That was pretty daunting news. But I really do remember in my bones, it is inexcusable to surrender myself to the reality. The barriers to becoming a great petrochemical engineer have never panicked me, for the simple reason that I am aspiring with faith and passion spurs me into actions.
我意識到，要實現自己的初心，就必須把個人的前途命運與企業的前途命運緊密相連，必須到企業最需要的地方去做出成績。
Eventually, I decided to join a coal chemical project in Ordos, a frontier city in Inner Mongolia, some 2000 kilometers away from my comfortable office in Shanghai.
因此，我決定離開上海去項目現場、去工程一線。我來到鄂爾多斯中天合創，開始了常駐現場的生活。
I worked hard to apply abstract knowledge which remained opaque in school to be comprehensible in reality. I had learned a lot about the chemical industry because I was buried all day long in it. I had seen real chemical reactors and distillation towers being used on site because I visited there a lot. I had got a better understanding of process control engineering because I got directions from colleagues I consulted with.
現場生活條件非常艱苦，每當我想要離開鄂爾多斯回上海的時候，我就會想起自己來這兒的原因。作為一名石油工程師，這是一條必經之路，我不能向困難妥協，我要堅守我的初心，努力必將有所回報。
Those days in Ordos were tricky. But looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. You have to do things meaningful to fulfill your life in your youth, or else, you are bound to be regretful at your old age. Keep on fighting for youth and it is worth the struggle.
果然，中天合創項目讓我的眼界和專業能力獲得了很大的提升。我有機會親歷世界級先進煤化工項目的建設，有機會碰到各類的技術難題。紙上得來終覺淺，絕知此事要躬行。過去在書本上學到的知識，全部以鮮活的姿態重現在眼前，重塑了我對整個化工行業的認知。
For me, it’s the desire to be a petrochemical engineer that lightened the road I reached. And still, my original aspiration will lead the way in the future and I am desperate to finish it. After all, what I need to do is devoting myself to my original aspiration. Fight for it. Fight for Youth.
是成為石油工程師的初心為我指明了前進的方向，是它讓我在遇到困難和挫折時選擇了奮鬥而不是放棄，而它也將繼續指引我披荊斬棘、奮勇前行！
