一、音標及中文意思

novel [ˈnɑ:vl] ：小說。

fiction [ˈfikʃn]：小說。

二、用法對比分析

novel一般指長篇小說，字數一般超過4萬字，novel可稱之為長故事；fiction一般指虛構的文學作品，裡面的人物、情節等都是作者想像出來的。

novel可以是fiction，也可以說nonfiction；fiction可以是novel（長故事），也可以是短故事（short story）

例句1：His new novel is a must for all lovers of crime fiction.

他的新小說是所有犯罪小說愛好者的必讀之作。

這部小說已拍成了電影。
