在第二十二屆法語活動節舉辦之際，瑞士駐華使館以及領館將同在中國的其他法語國家一起為觀眾呈現包括電影、文學、音樂、美食以及藝術等系列活動。3月9至31日，法語電影薈萃將呈現一系列精心選取的電影作品，所有電影為原聲播放，中文/英文字幕。
西葫蘆是個小男孩，他的生活和土豆、糯米、蝦餃等星二代不一樣。在他的母親突然去世後，善意的警員雷蒙成為了西葫蘆的朋友，並把他送到了一個孤兒院。在這個陌生、時而充滿敵意的環境中，西葫蘆經歷了怎樣的生活？
中國電影資料館：法語電影薈萃開幕活動放映為《我是一個小葫瓜》（西葫蘆的生活），該片獲得安納西動畫電影節兩項大獎。西葫蘆不是蔬菜，而是一個勇敢的小男孩。電影以充滿趣味又感人至深的筆調講述他的成長生活，他還有個朋友叫棗子，湊成一對在起名上很不走心的父母。
並沒有在中國大陸上映的《我是一個小葫瓜》（西葫蘆的生活）竟然本周在豆瓣口碑爆棚，難道是因為在奧斯卡最佳動畫電影上敗給了命定小金人加持的《瘋狂動物城》嗎？

西葫蘆的生活是瑞士導演Claude Barras執導的第一部長篇電影，代表瑞士進入了2017年奧斯卡最佳動畫片的最終角逐。在此之前他還導演過幾部短片，包括《The Genie in a Ravioli Can》，並在世界諸多電影節上獲獎。Claude Barras與孩提時代有著特有的連結，他把Gilles Paris的《西葫蘆自傳》成功地改編成了定格動畫電影。

我非常喜歡法國作家Gilles Paris的書《西葫蘆自傳》，一個溫柔而富有詩意的時代故事。故事的情節和意境把我帶回到我的童年，並使我想起了自己作為電影迷在看了電影《四百擊》、《咪咪流浪記》、《百麗和塞巴斯蒂安》、《小天使海蒂》，甚至《小鹿斑比》後的情感起伏。通過改編這部動畫電影，我想和今天的公眾分享一下那些孕育和塑造了我兒時經驗的奇妙情感。
我想改編Gilles Paris的書，是因為我要拍一部關於虐待兒童的電影並向當今的社會呼喚補救措施；一部娛樂電影會讓你又哭又笑，但是一部有鮮明主題的電影，比如這部電影，會告訴你一群朋友帶來的堅韌力量，這包括同情、友情、分享和寬容。
在當代電影中，孤兒院是經典的虐待兒童的地方，而外面的世界卻是自由的（如《四百擊》、《放牛班的春天》）。在《我是一個小葫瓜》中，模式已被扭轉：虐待來自外部世界，而孤兒院卻是一個可以安撫和重建的地方，這使得這個故事同時具有經典與現代性。

Francophonie Film Encounters: From March 9 to 31, discover the diversity of the French-speaking world via a selection of long and short films screened in original version with French and Chinese subtitles.
Swissfilm: Ma Vie de Courgette
Courgette (or Zucchini )is an intriguing nickname for a 9-year-old boy. After his mother’s sudden death, Courgette is befriended by a kind police officer, Raymond, who accompanies the boy to his new foster home filled with other orphans his age. Courgette struggles at first to find his place in this strange, at times hostile, environment. Yet with Raymond’s help and his new found friends, he eventually learns to trust, find true love and at last a new family of his own. Director Claude Barras tackles a difficult subject matter beautifully in the stop-motionanimated film.
Before directing hisfirst feature film, Ma Vie de Courgette, Claude Barras directed several short films including The Genie in a Ravioli Can, which received numerous of awards infilm festivals around the world. Claude Barras』 unique connection with childhood transcends time and age differences; he has the rare gift of being able to make you laugh and cry at the same time. His stories are filled with realism and fantasy, humor and poetry. He was the impetus for adapting Gilles Paris』 Autobiography of a Courgette into a stop-motion animation film.
I fell in love with Gilles Paris』 book, Autobiography of a Courgette, a tender and poetic coming of age story. The story and its tone brought me back to my childhood and reminded me of my first emotional flutters as a movie goer watching films such as The 400 Blows, Nobody’s Boy: Remi, Belleand Sebastian, Heidi, and even Bambi. With this animated film adaptation, I wanted to share with today’s public a bit of these wondrous and formative emotions that have nurtured and shaped my experience.
But this film is also, and above all, a homage to neglected and mistreated children who do the best they can to survive and live with their wounds. Courgette, our hero, has been through many difficult times and, after having lost his mother, he believes heis alone in the world. That was without counting on the people he would meet in his new life in the foster care center: having a group of friends you can rely on, falling in love, and why not even being happy one day? He still has many things to learn in life. It is this message, at once simple and profound, that seemed essential to convey to our children. And the wish to share this message was what guided meduring the course of directing the film.
