v.殺死;導致死亡;毀滅;破壞;扼殺;使停止;使痛苦
n.殺死，捕殺(尤指動物);被捕殺的動物;獵物
kill a rumour平息謠言
kill the pain 止疼
kill作動詞時，除了殺死、毀滅等意思，還可以表示使停止，kill a rumour就是平息謠言的意思。要注意的是，kill the snake的意思和蛇沒有一點關係，意思是上廁所。
例句：
I m going to kill the snake. Can you wait here for a while ?
我要去上廁所，你能在這等我一會嗎？
the call from nature 上廁所
go to the john 上廁所
除了kill the snake，表達上廁所的英語俚語還有the call from nature和go to the john。
the call from nature很多人會誤以為是大自然的呼喚，我們可以把上廁所理解為身體的呼喚。所以the call from nature可以引申為上廁所。answer the call from nature就是對身體呼喚的回答，也就是上廁所的意思。
例句：
She just received the call from nature.
她想去上廁所。
kill time 消磨時間；打發時間
在英語中，經常用kill time來表示打發時間，大家千萬不要以為kill time的意思是殺死時間。
例句：
Amy often watches movies to kill time at night.
在晚上，Amy經常看電影來打發時間。
kill the clock 採取拖延戰術
against the clock 提前完成工作；和時間賽跑
clock是時鐘的意思，字面意思是把時鐘殺掉，但外國人不這麼理解，kill the clock可以引申為拖延時間，採用拖延戰術，一般是指在比賽裡拖延對手的時間來爭取勝利的戰術。
例句：
They tried to kill the clock, but they lost the match by one goal.
他們試圖採取拖延戰術，但是還是以一分之差輸了這場比賽。
Doctors raced against the clock to save his life.
醫生們爭分奪秒地搶救他的生命。
kill it 擅長做某事
外國人經常用kill it來表示一個人擅長做某事，如果我們想誇別人十分擅長做一件事，就可以用kill it。
例句：
As we know,John kills it on dancing.
眾所周知，John很擅長跳舞。
you re really killing me 笑死我了
在英語中，you are really killing me的意思不是你要了我的命，你殺了我，而是你真的要笑死我了。當朋友給我們講了個非常好笑的故事，我們就可以回一句you are really killing me。
例句：
Stop it, you are really killing me.
你快別說了，笑死我了。

water closet/lavatory/washroom 廁所
powder room 化妝間
the gents 男廁所
ladies room女廁所
