China Joy wraps up in Shanghai
The 15th China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference, known as China Joy, has wrapped up in Shanghai.
The expo, which opened on Thursday, was themed "Share 15 Years of Pan-entertainment" and covered a total area of 170-thousand square meters, making it the biggest expo of its kind in Asia.
Exhibits included pan-entertainment hot spots and multiple cultural products, such as cartoons and animations, e-sports games, internet film and music, and internet literature.
Pan-Entertainment is a buzz word in the interactive entertainment industry.
It's a strategy for companies to broaden their focus from online games to include other areas such as animation, literature, films and more.
The goal is to develop multi-platform and IP-centric gaming operations and networks that cross industries.
The two highlights of the expo this year were the number of interactive gaming opportunities and the abundance of unique Chinese games.
The expo had more than 5,000 interactive gaming machines for visitor to play.
Moreover, the exhibition featured many gaming products rich with Chinese characteristics, as well as content from a variety of genres.
According to one visitor, gamers could only observe at past expos, and there were not enough gaming machines to go around. But this year the same visitor was happily surprised to find the expo was more interactive.
"This year there are many games on exhibit. Moreover, I can experience these games firsthand and interact with other gamers. It is very good," explained the visitor.
According to the latest data from ChinaJoy, Chinese gamers had exceeded 500 million during the first half of this year.
The gaming market is still experiencing rapid growth, with sales revenue nearing 100 billion yuan during the same period.
