不久前,三星旗下Lifestyle電視系列出來了一款新品The Sero,它主打的旋轉屏功能看上去有幾分酷炫,除了可以像傳統電視一樣進行橫向展示外,The Sero的屏幕還可以90度旋轉,切換成縱向屏幕,使用戶在瀏覽Snapchat、Instagram限時動態和TikTok(抖音)時得到更優化的體驗。
Samsung answered with The Sero, a new member of its portfolio of Lifestyle TVs. The product can pivot between horizontal and vertical orientations—it's awesome! Users can watch it as a regular TV in its traditional horizontal format, while enjoying a better experience for Instagram, Snap, TikTok and other smart phone videos in the vertical format.

其實三星並不是唯一想到可以把電視屏幕做成縱向模式的公司。早在2018年5月,微軟就推出的Surface系列產品之一Surface Hub 2,在第一代的基礎上加入了豎屏的版本,不過與The Sero面向「千禧一代」的娛樂屬性不同,Surface Hub 2從一開始就是針對企業辦公推出的產品,還加入了觸控等功能,可以配合滾輪立架方便使用。
Actually, Samsung is not the only one considering making vertical TVs. In May 2018, Microsoft released Surface Hub 2, which can also be flipped around 90 degrees. That model, different from The Sero's aim at satisfying millennial consumers' entertainment demand, has a touchscreen and can go with the mobile stand making it usable for business chores.

在中國,也有硬體公司在嘗試踐行豎屏電視的創意。比如2019年8月,TCL發布了XESS智屏電視,也可使電視在橫屏和豎屏之間切換,還加入了AI可升降攝像頭、語音助手等功能。
Some Chinese companies also want to join in the game. For example, TCL unveiled XESS Smart Screen, achieving rotation from horizontal to vertical mode. Other innovative functions include pop-up AI camera and voice interaction.

儘管如此,豎屏電視在全球範圍內都仍是一個非常新穎的概念產品。

對於生產豎屏電視的公司的嘗試,有些網友提出了自己的想法:一方面在智慧型手機等行動裝置的衝擊下,網際網路電視慢慢成為未來的方向;另一方面,很多公司也看到了短視頻的爆發性增長趨勢,因而紛紛嘗試從上遊改變電視產品的形態,尋找重新定義行業標準的可能。
Some people think it's natural for the companies to turn to vertical TVs. First, internet TV is stepping onto the main stage as people are captivated by smartphones and other mobile devices. Second, companies, witnessing the explosive growth of short videos, try to adapt TVs for the trend and search for possibilities to set new industrial standards.
也有網友並不看好豎屏電視,他們jio得一方面豎屏可承載的信息非常有限;另一方面用豎屏電視觀看短視頻可能會有解析度的問題。
Of course, there are counter views. These people think: on the one hand, vertical screen can bear little information, on the other hand, there might be resolution-related issues.
