不知不覺就迎來了三月，一個小編最喜歡的月份。雖然最近依舊宅家的生活從各方面來講還不到春暖花開，但在小編的想像中，三月伊始總代表一種屬於春天溫暖美好的希望。所以今天也說句 三月你好。
三月一日是很多作曲家的生日。除了大名鼎鼎的蕭邦，還有約翰託馬斯 John Thomas (1826-1913)，一位來自英國威爾斯的豎琴演奏兼作曲家。來一起聽聽有關他的一些音樂吧♥
託馬斯出生於英國威爾斯的一個城市叫布裡真德 (英語 Bridgend; 威爾斯語 Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr)。小時候的託馬斯曾在爸爸的指導下接觸學習過短笛，隨後不久託馬斯的父母為他買了一臺豎琴開始了他的學琴之路。起初託馬斯所熟悉的是威爾斯三排弦豎琴(Welsh Triple Harp)，後來他進入皇家音樂學院，要求想要和老師學習現代豎琴(Double - action Pedal Harp)，也就是我們平時所看到的豎琴。
在學習豎琴的同時託馬斯也學習鋼琴並嘗試作曲。他積攢了很多各地演出與指揮的經驗，於1882年返回皇家音樂學院成為那裡的豎琴教授。此外，託馬斯還是第一位被皇家冊封的豎琴演奏家，有威爾斯吟遊詩人 "Chief of the Welsh Minstrels - Pencerdd Gwalia" 之稱。
威爾斯三排弦豎琴（Welsh Triple Harp）：根據豎琴家John Parry的描述，簡單來說就是有三排弦（非常容易令人兩眼昏花）的豎琴，大約五個八度，右手所彈的那排為37根弦；中間一排用來彈升降變化音，為34根弦；左手所彈那排為27根弦。

"Harpist John Parry (1776–1851) best described the triple harp when he wrote:
The compass of the triple harp, in general, is about five octaves, or thirty-seven strings in the principal row, which is on the side played by the right hand. The middle row, which produces the flats and sharps, consists of thirty-four strings; and the treble, or left hand row, numbers twenty-seven strings. The outside rows are tuned in unison, and always in the diatonic scale, that is, in the regular and natural scale of tones and semitones..."

除了演奏與教學，託馬斯為豎琴寫了非常多的作品，包括兩本帶有威爾斯旋律的豎琴作品集 Welsh Melodies for the Harp Volumes I and II，兩本豎琴作品集 Six Studies Volume I and Volume II，還有其他好聽的獨奏曲目：

吟遊詩人告別故鄉 和 秋 這兩首作品是託馬斯受到愛爾蘭詩人託馬斯 · 摩爾(Thomas Moore) 的詩句啟發有感而成。有一種淡淡嘆息，悲傷，思鄉的感覺。以下是詩句原文：
"Lines from Poems by Thomas Moore
The Minstrel's Adieu to His Native Land
When the light of my song is o'er,
Then take my harp to your ancient hall,
Hang it up at that friendly door
Where weary travellers love to call
Then if some bard, who roams forsaken,
Revive its soft notes in passing along,
Oh let one thought of its master waken
Your warmest smile for the child of song.
Autumn
I love that moaning music which I hear
In the bleak gusts of Autumn, for the Soul
Seems gathering tidings from another sphere,

除了獨奏，託馬斯還有一首為雙豎琴所作的重奏作品: Grand Duet in E flat Major
此外，他也曾為著名的 莫扎特長笛與豎琴協奏曲 配寫了華彩樂段（在這裡放上一段Mozart的第二樂章，其中華彩部分使用的就是託馬斯的版本）
託馬斯的作品對於大部分豎琴演奏者來說，它們旋律好聽，又有一定的對演奏技術的要求，非常適合已經有一些豎琴學習基礎的演奏者來練習。他的作品對掌握左右手分解和弦，上下行交錯琶音，泛音的使用都有比較好的幫助，小編自己也很喜歡學習託馬斯的作品。
