Today some official is under investigation

Tomorrow some media hails and hypes

—These are really funny

Today some star get divorced

Tomorrow some famous monk holds a consecration ceremony

—These are exhaust of the society

 

I cannot cover my privacy-prying ears

I cannot either take the moon for a sleeping pill

The time that I squandered worth no mentioning

My body aspiring to Nirvana. Who onearth is the ruler of soul

 

Thin snow is left behind the shadows dancing in riotous revelry

In the eyes of the refugees there is notany god

The zen bell not tolled by anyone sees afalling leaf

After daybreak, the sunlight filled with bird chirping has nothing with the world

Illusory Worldly Affairs

 

Our bodies are illusory

Like an old dream

Hanging on the lilac

Be it sweet or bitter

A hundred years are just the crystal rolling of the dew

 

Nothing remains for long in this world

Your tender round face will get wrinkles

And you』d become a skeleton combing hairin the mirror

Inside the bronze mirror, tears coldlike blood

 

The bright mirror in the heart shines everything

Leaving behind no trace after wind and clouds go past

 

 

 

偶感

 

我習慣於雕琢宋瓷般的詩句

我習慣於把香草和隱逸作為武器

五百年了，風雨拍打的痕跡

讓思想更加鏽蝕了從前的名字

 

大街上搖晃著太多的殭屍

他們眾口一詞，目光呆滯

仿佛天上不曾有過太陽

靈魂在死水的絕望裡融化

 

罪人在燭火前俯下身體

他們的身影樹葉一樣枯黃

當人間像秋風掃過一樣死寂

I like carving verse of the Song china texture

I like making sweet grass and seclusion my weapons

After five hundred years, traces left by wind and rain

Make the thought even more corroded with the past name

 

So many corpses totter on the street

They utter the same word, their eyes blank and dull

As if there is no sun in the sky

And the soul melts in the desperation of dead water

 

The sinners bend over the candle light

Their silhouettes are yellowed like fallen leaves

When human world is deathly still as if autumn wind sweeps past

The journey of life anchorage before the small pond

Standing in the bamboo trees to count fireflies and sparse stars

 

The sky and dream are his pillow

The secret pain is like the fish hook into the mouth

 

The broken joy becomes his sentence

Life has the perfect form of sunrise

 

Eternity chooses to despise the epitaph on carved stone

Oblivion has accepted the invitation of dust and opulence

 

Behind the silent door a wolf dog is tethered

作者簡介

 

徐春芳，曾用筆名：芳菲。中國當代著名詩人。1976年生於安徽望江縣農村。1998年畢業於安徽師大中文系。當過教師，做過編輯記者，現為公務員，兼任安徽省詩歌學會副會長。曾獲黎巴嫩國際文學獎、首屆「安徽詩歌獎▪最佳詩人獎」、東西方詩人獎、全國魯藜詩歌獎、「桃花潭杯•世界華語詩歌大獎」等國內外一系列獎項。

About the author

 

Xu Chunfang, once used the pen name Fangfei, is a famous contemporary Chinese poet who was born in the countryside of Wangjiang County, Anhui Province in 1976. Graduated from Chinese Department of Anhui Normal University in 1998, he was once a teacher, an editor and journalist, but now acivil servant of China, and vice president of Anhui Poetry Society. He has wona series of awards at home and abroad, including the Lebanon International Literature Award, the first Anhui Poetry Award-Best Poet Award, the East andWest Poets Award, the National Lu Li Poetry Award, and the Peach Blossom Pond Cup-World Chinese Poetry Award.

His works are scattered in Indian poetry journal Prosopisia, Thai Tong Hua Daily News, Romanian poetry journal Claviaturi, Italian literature journal Pomezia Notizie, Autumn Water Poetry Journal (Taiwan, China), Chinese and Foreign Literature and Art, World Poets Quarterly, Star, Flying Sky, Poetry Monthly, Shanghai Poet, Qingming, Selected Poetry journal, Poetry God, Green Wind, Poetry Forest, Poetry Tide, Nanguo Poetry Newspaper, Xinhua Poetry Page, Haiyan and other domestic and foreign newspapers. Aboutthe translator

 

Brent O. Yan, original name as Yan Haifeng, born in Qufu (Confucius』 birthplace), is a poet and translator who lives in Jinan and usually publishes his translation sunder the name of Brent O. Yan. He is a PhD candidate of Beijing Foreign Studies University, associate professor of Shandong University of Political Science and Law,  vice-chairman of Chinese Poetry Association, vice-chairmanof East-West Association of Artists, councilor of the Chinese Society of Comparative Study of Civilizations, member of Chinese Information Processing Society of China, member of Writers Association of Shandong Province of China, guest editor of the World Poets Quarterly, Translation Editor-in-Chief of Poetry Hall, vice editorial director of Northeast Asia Forum on Foreign Languages, Business Translation and assistant secretary general of Northeast Asia International Symposium on Linguistics, Literature and Teaching. He has published 5 translated books, more than 20 academic papers and hundreds of pieces of poem translation, modern poems and poems of ancient Chinese styles, which can be seen in Poetry Magazine, World Poets Quarterly, Tianjin Poets, New Poetry, Square Poetry Magazine, Jiangnan Poetry, Poetry Hall, etc. and anthologies like Anthology of Chinese Poetry and Two-year Book of Poetry: an Introduction to Contemporary Chinese Poetry. In 2012 he won the annual 「International Best Translator」 Award issued by International Poetry Translation and Research Center (IPTRC). And in 2016 he was awarded 「Best Translator」 in Contemporary Chinese Poetry Award. In 2017 he worked as a translator for International Festival of Poetry and Liquor, rendering into Chinese the works of JackHirschman, Mein Celal and Kerry Shawn Keys.

張智中（1966— ），中國當代著名文學翻譯家、詩人、學者。河南博愛人。鄭州大學英語語言文學專業學士，天津外國語大學英美文學方向碩士，南開大學典籍翻譯及譯論研究方向博士，河南大學詩歌翻譯博士後。現為南開大學外國語學院教授。兼任天津外國語大學中央文獻翻譯研究基地兼職研究員，《世界詩人》季刊客座總編，國際詩歌翻譯研究中心副主席。大量的翻譯實務之外，英譯漢有美國經典電影系列計50餘部，漢譯英有中國中央電視臺拍攝的84集電視連續劇《三國演義》、電影《劉三姐》等。出版編、譯、著80餘部，在外語類核心和其它重要刊物上發表學術論文100餘篇，發表譯詩5,000餘首，另有詩歌創作發表。2003年10月，獲南開大學二等獎學金；2003年11月，獲第十五屆全國韓素音青年翻譯徵文（漢譯英）優秀獎；2005年12月，獲2005年度國際最佳翻譯家稱號；2006年11月，獲第二屆「蔡麗雙博士•世界詩歌獎•傑出翻譯家獎」；2007年3月，被評為2006年度河南省教育廳學術技術帶頭人；2011年9月，獲中國當代詩歌獎（2000—2010）翻譯獎；2013年9月，獲批成為天津市「用三年時間引進千名以上高層次人才」計劃資助對象。2017年，入選天津市高校「學科領軍人才培養計劃」； 2018年，專著《漢詩英譯美學研究》獲天津市第十五屆社會科學優秀成果三等獎。主持並完成國家社科基金後期資助項目《漢詩英譯美學研究》和天津市哲學社會科學規劃課題重點項目《漢詩英譯風格流派研究》，目前主研國家社科基金項目《漢語詩歌在英語世界的譯介研究》。漢詩英譯多走向國外，獲國際著名詩人和翻譯家的廣泛好評。譯詩觀：但為傳神，不拘其形，散文筆法，詩意內容；將漢詩英譯提高到英詩的高度。

 

 

 

About the translator

 

Zhang Zhizhong (1966— ), is a famous literary translator in contemporary China, as well as a poet and scholar. His ancestral place is Bo』ai County of Henan Province. He successively obtained a bachelor’sdegree in English language and literature from Zhengzhou University, a master’sdegree in English and American literature from Tianjin Foreign StudiesUniversity, and a doctor’s degree in translation studies from Nankai University, and he has done his postdoctoral study in aesthetics of poetry translation at Henan University. He is now professor of Foreign Languages College of Nankai University. Meanwhile, he is a part-time researcher at the Central Literature Translation Research Base of Tianjin Foreign Studies University, guest editor of The World Poets Quarterly and vicechairman of International Poetry Translation and Research Centre. He has done ahuge amount of translation, including over 50 classic American movies (English-Chinese), the 84 episodes of TV play The Romance of Three Kingdoms and the movie entitled The Tale of Sister Liu (Chinese-English), etc.Until now, he has published over 80 books, 100 academic papers, and over 5,000translated poems. Besides, he has published his own poems. In October, 2003, he received scholarship from Nankai University; in November, 2003, he obtained Excellence Award in the 15th National Translation (Chinese-English) Competition for Youth Sponsored by Han Suyin; in December, 2005, he wasentitled as the Best International Translator for 2005; in November, 2006, hewon the Prize for Distinguished Translator in the 2nd World Poetry Prizes Sponsored by Dr. CHOI Laisheung; in March, 2007, he was entitled as the academic leader for 2006 by Henan Provincial Educational Bureau, and in September, 2011, he won the Translation Prize of 「Contemporary Chinese PoetryPrizes (2000-2010)」; in September, 2013, he was ratified by Tianjin City as theobject of financial support in the project of 「Recruiting One ThousandHigh-Level Talents in Three Years」; in 2017, he was ratified as 「theobject for the training program of academic research leaders by TianjinMunicipal Government; in 2018, his monograph An Aesthetic Study of C-E Translation Poetry won the third prizeat the 15th Excellent Achievements in Social Sciences of Tianjin. He has finished An Aesthetic Study of English Translation of Chinese Poetry, aproject funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, and A Study of the Styles and Schools of C-EPoetry Translation, a key project funded by Tianjin Social Science Foundation. Now he is undertaking A Studyof the Translation of Chinese Poetry in the English World, a project fundedby the National Social Science Foundation of China. His English translation ofChinese poetry is widely acclaimed throughout the world, and is favorablyreviewed by international poets and translators. His view on poetrytranslation: spirit over form, prose enjambment to rewrite Chinese poetry into sterling English poetry.

△ This journal is the only quarterly for the purely modern poems published in the multilingual languages such as Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Greek and thecontributor’s mother tongue, founded in May 8, 1995, circulated in over 190 countries. It is a joint journal for members of World Congress of Poets (WCP) and The International Poetry Translation and Research Centre (IPTRC)， International Writers and Artists Association (IWA) and International Societyof Greek Writers & Arts (ISGWA).

△ Welcome are those poetic works, poetic criticisms, poetic stories and interviews of poets, critics, translators and sinologists and historical materials.

△ Contributions will not be revised exceptfor some technical treatment. Due to the limitation of time and manpower, all contributions including a short resume of your art experience and achievement and two color photographs must be written in two or more than two kinds of languages and sent via e-mail to: [e-mail] or [e-mail]. No contribution will be accepted if it is inadequate.

△ No contribution will be returned. Ifdemanded, please add adequate postage and envelops.

△ Contributors are responsible for legal matters. This journal is not jointly responsible for the illegal writings and pictures.

△ This journal has the right to select and publish the writings and pictures published in this journal.
