2020 is an extraordinary year and an important milestone in the history of Shenzhen's development. In 2020, Shenzhen was brought under the spotlight. General Secretary Xi Jinping attended the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in person and delivered an important speech, giving the city a historical mission in the new era. As the spring tides are surging in the South China Sea, Shenzhen has marched towards a new journey with great momentum from pioneering to pilot demonstration, from exploring innovation to leading innovation. Last year, Shenzhen yielded satisfactory results in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Area with continued influence. The city has implemented comprehensive pilot reforms to guide its comprehensively deepened reforms, and achieved major strategic outcomes in epidemic prevention and control with its GDP rising against the downward trend. The "13th Five-Year Plan" period has successfully concluded, and historic achievements have been made in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects with high quality.
2020年是極不平凡的一年，是深圳發展史上具有重要裡程碑意義的一年。這一年，深圳迎來了高光時刻，習近平總書記親臨深圳經濟特區建立40周年慶祝大會並發表重要講話，賦予深圳新時代歷史使命。南海之濱春潮湧動，先行先試變成了示範引領，探索創新成為了創新引領，激蕩起闊步邁向新徵程的萬丈豪情。這一年，深圳交出了高分答卷，粵港澳大灣區、深圳先行示範區「雙區」驅動效應持續釋放，深圳綜合改革試點牽引全面深化改革縱深推進，疫情防控取得重大戰略成果，經濟發展頂壓前行逆勢上揚，「十三五」圓滿收官，高質量全面建成小康社會取得歷史性成就。
Looking back on the past year, we are moved by the amazing people in Shenzhen. We deeply feel that this is a city full of love, fearlessness, perseverance and dedication. 77 medical workers were dispatched to Wuhan and Jingzhou, Hubei in 5 batches. The medical staff embarked on the mission with strong determination and went to other people’s rescue at the expense of their own safety. Scientific and technological personnel, community workers, police officers, soldiers, first responders, journalists, volunteers, and civil servants rushed to the front line in the battle against COVID-19, bearing their responsibilities and leaving behind their loved ones. 「Good landlords」 in the city willingly reduced or exempted rents for tenants. 「Good teachers」 of the city livestreamed classes for students from their hometown. 「Good citizens」 in Shenzhen responded to the call to cooperate in the fight against the pandemic. Behind each light, each door, and each mobile phone was a special battlefield. Countless heart-warming stories and touching moments demonstrated to us the meaning of 「united as one」 and 「indomitable」! Thumbs-up to all of you!
回首過去一年，了不起的深圳人讓我們為之感動。我們深深感到，這是一座洋溢著大愛、無畏、堅守、奉獻的城市。5批次77名援鄂醫療隊隊員千裡馳援湖北武漢、荊州，廣大醫務工作者白衣為甲、逆行出徵，以生命赴使命、以大愛護眾生；科技工作者、社區工作者、公安民警、部隊官兵、應急救援人員、新聞工作者、志願者、公務人員等衝鋒在戰「疫」一線，把責任扛在肩上，把背影留給最愛的人；深圳「好房東」主動為租戶減免租金，深圳「好老師」在老家為學生直播上課，深圳「好市民」響應號召、自覺助力抗疫……每一盞燈火、每一扇門窗、每一部手機的背後，都是特殊的戰場。無數溫潤心田的故事，無數感人肺腑的瞬間，詮釋了什麼是萬眾一心、什麼是一往無前！為你們點讚！
Reviewing year 2020, we are encouraged by the remarkable achievements of Shenzhen. We deeply feel that this is a city full of hard work, perseverance, progress and harvest. Over the past year, the quality of Shenzhen's development has improved. A wide range of efforts have been made to help enterprises, especially SMEs and individual-owned businesses overcome difficulties, reducing the burden of market entities by 110 billion yuan in 2020. The regional GDP reached 2.77 trillion yuan, and the export volume topped all Chinese cities for 28 consecutive years. The number of national-level high-tech enterprises exceeded 18,500 and the number of PCT international patent applications ranked first among cities in the country for 17 consecutive years. The number of commercial entities and entrepreneurial density continued to lead the country. All kinds of international and domestic market entities remain bullish on Shenzhen and will continue to choose the city.
回首過去一年，了不起的深圳成就讓我們為之振奮。我們深深感到，這是一座充滿拼搏、奮鬥、進取、收穫的城市。一年來，深圳發展質量更高了。千方百計幫助企業特別是中小微企業和個體工商戶渡過難關，全年為市場主體減負1100億元；地區生產總值達到2.77萬億元，出口實現全國城市「二十八連冠」；國家級高新技術企業突破1.85萬家，PCT國際專利申請量連續17年居全國城市首位，商事主體數和創業密度繼續領跑全國，國際國內各類市場主體繼續看好深圳、選擇深圳。
Over the past year, the people’s life quality has improved. Seven subway lines have been put into operation, with the city’s rail network density being the highest in the country. People now can take the subway to enjoy the sea view in the east. The supply of high-quality education has been increasing as well, and there are more premium hospitals within our neighborhoods. The city is stepping up efforts to provide people with more excellent education and medical resources. Rivers are more beautiful with clear waters, green banks and pleasant scenery. Green paths and waterfront trails are interconnected. Tens of thousands of cormorants made a stop in Shenzhen Bay. Flowers have been blooming in over 1,000 parks across the city throughout the year. The annual average concentration of PM2.5 dropped to 19 μg/m3, the lowest level since monitoring data began. The 「urban cultural menu」 is rich and colorful, and people can enjoy the beauty of culture within their communities. As an inclusive, harmonious and charming city, Shenzhen won the national award of 「civilized city」 for the sixth time, which is the result of our joint efforts. We are also delighted to see that counties paired with Shenzhen have all been delisted from the 「poverty-stricken regions」 with all people lifted out of poverty. People are living a happier life.
一年來，市民生活品質更高了。7條地鐵線路開通運營，軌道線網密度全國第一，大家可以坐著地鐵去東部看海了；優質教育學位供給越來越多了，家門口有了更多的好醫院，大家上學就醫正從「有」向「好」加速邁進；河暢水清岸綠景美，碧道綠道互聯互通，萬隻鸕鷀舞動深圳灣，遍布全城的千座公園四季繁花似錦；PM2.5年均濃度降至19微克/立方米，再創有監測數據以來最好水平；「城市文化菜單」豐富多彩，大家在家門口就可以盡享文化之美；海納百川、和諧美好的深圳第六次榮獲全國文明城市稱號，這是大家共同努力的成績。我們還欣喜地看到，深圳對口幫扶貧困縣全部摘帽、貧困人口全部脫貧，大家的日子越過越好了。
Over the past year, our urban governance has improved. 「One-stop」 mechanism has covered all administrative service items, and more than 99% of the items can be handled without visits to the administrative halls, providing more convenience for everyone. The city has taken the lead in piloting digital RMB, and is the first in the world to roll out stand-alone 5G network with city-wide coverage. It has become easier for residents to get around by scanning a QR code, and an increasing number of life-saving AEDs have been installed in the city. In this ever-changing smart city, people can easily handle daily activities such as accessing the internet, riding bicycles, and going shopping, etc.
一年來，城市治理水平更高了。全部政務服務事項實現「最多跑一次」，99%以上的事項實現「零跑動」辦理，大家辦事更方便了；數字人民幣率先試點，在全球率先實現5G獨立組網全市域覆蓋，掃碼通行越來越便利，還有越來越多的救命神器AED安裝到位。在這座日新月異的智慧城市裡，人們上網、騎車、購物……感覺都是「奧利給」！
At this moment, the city of Shenzhen is full of spring elements, with lush flora, green mountains, immense vigor and prosperity. It remains a young and striving city, and will continue to create new and greater miracles!
此時此刻，鵬城大地一片春的氣息，這裡草木蔓發、春山可望，蓬勃向上、欣欣向榮。深圳還是那座年輕奮發的城市，將不斷創造新的更大奇蹟！
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the first year into the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan", as well as the start of the journey to comprehensively build a modern socialist country. Working with our residents, we will always maintain the groundbreaking spirit, creative momentum, and hardworking style, strive to build the city into a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a role model city in a modernized and prosperous socialist country, so as to take the lead in realizing socialist modernization and write more 「stories of the spring」!
