媒體 Financal Review， Reuters 和 Sixth Tone 針對此事也進行了報導。提到兩個譯法，一種是直接拼音 Lao Gan Ma，另一種比較霸氣 Old Godmother。
Lao Gan Ma — which literally translates as 「Old Godmother」 — was founded in 1996 by Tao Huabi, whose portrait is still featured on the signature sauce bottles. The brand is beloved by people in China and abroad, even becoming a fashion symbol during New York Fashion Week in 2018. Meanwhile, its sales revenue last year topped 500 million yuan.
Old Godmother」是被老外戲稱的譯法，也代表了老外對老乾媽的喜愛，有人甚至還發明了老乾媽配紅酒的吃法，稱老乾媽是萬物皆可蘸的美食佳品。
Lao Gan Ma, an affectionate term that translates loosely to 「godmother」, is likely named so because of the woman gracing every jar’s label.
「老乾媽」可能得名於每個瓶子標籤上都印著的那位神採奕奕的女士，這一稱呼是充滿感情的，大致可翻譯成「教母」。
2012年7月，美國奢侈品電商Gilt 把老乾媽奉為尊貴調味品，稱其為「來自中國的進口奢侈品」。對老乾媽的描述，也流露出溢美之詞。

在全球頂尖的買手店，Opening Ceremony的櫥窗裡曾閃現「老乾媽衛衣」。衛衣樣式如下，以辣醬紅色為底色，前面印有老乾媽創始人陶華碧的頭像，下方印有註冊商標「老乾媽」字樣，兩隻袖子分別印有中文的「國民女神（national diva）」和英文的「sauces queen（辣醬皇后）」字樣。
有小夥伴還直譯成「Old Dry Mother」，對應老乾媽三個字，這應該是個錯誤的譯法，在國外電商網站很多老乾媽產品，用的英文截圖如下，Lao Gan Ma Black Bean Chilli Sauce應該是個不錯的譯法，即保留了品牌又解釋了產品，小夥伴也可以看一下。
