Hi. I’m Spencer Musick from the United States and I host a daily newscast The Beijing Hour at China Radio International. My best memory of Chinese Lunar New Year was during my college years in the US state of North Carolina. All of the colleagues from my Modern Chinese History course met at our professor’s home for dinner. After this, we returned to my apartment where my colleagues from China introduced me to drinking Baijiu for the first time. Hi,this is Paul James, host of The Beijing Hour on China Radio International.As a Canadian, we have a significant Asian population, and so even before coming to China, I was quite familiar with the concept of Chinese New Year.But it was only after moving here to China that I fully-understood the importance this holiday really is.And even though I've lived and worked here in China for over a decade, I'm still learning new and interesting things about the different ways people in this diverse country celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Some of my best memories here in China are linked to the New Year's celebrations, including spending time with friends and - of course - allowing my inner-child to celebrate by lighting off fireworks!!

Hi, this is Brian Kopczynski from the US, host and panelist for the live show Today and occasional panelist for the also live Roundtable program at China Radio International. Growing up I didn’t know much about Spring Festival, but in recent years, I』ve gone back to my girlfriend’s hometown in Sichuan to celebrate with her family, where I am this year. One of my favorite parts of the holiday is going down to the countryside to visit her grandparents. We』d hire a mianbao che to take us to the closest town, then walk the rest of the way through the hills. Calm and peaceful, the fresh air and beautiful scenery was always a good way to get away from things and get back to the basics with family. There’s a car now, so we don’t hike there anymore, but I look forward to the next time I can walk those country trails. Catch us on China Plus News on Facebook.

Hello everybody! This is Doris Wang from China Radio International wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year. I am a reporter for our feature program Studio Plus and I am very excited to celebrate the holiday here in China this year.
In my home country of Canada, every Chinese family in the city would gather together and cook their favorite dish. The local Chinese school would put on a Chinese New Year Gala of their own. And of course, at midnight, everybody would eat dumplings. But we don't watch the Chinese New Year Gala on TV, and I don't get any red envelopes, that's why I always am jealous of my Chinese friends in China.
