「歧視」這種現象其實在任何地方都不能避免，在國內我們有地域歧視、性別歧視、工作歧視、信仰歧視，在國外可能碰到最明顯是種族歧視。那麼我們今天就來總結一下，北美地區英語中關於歧視華人和中國人的說法有哪些。大家以後聽見這些說法就應該直接懟回去！
Chinaman
字面上看起來China是「中國」，「man」是人，似乎合成之後應該是「中國人」，可是實際上這是一個帶有挑釁和種族歧視的詞語。類似於英語中將非洲裔美國人叫做「N-word」一樣，都是美國本土化的歧視用語。
Oriental
本來意思是東方，正常使用的時候其實沒有歧視的意思，但是如果用來指人，特別是針對中國人、華人，那就是典型的歧視。因為這個詞具體是形容東方地理特徵的無生命的物體的。
Chinky
根據英文裡面中國人（chinese）改寫出來的歧視性專用稱呼之一，就是中國佬的意思。
Banana/yellow monkey
Banana指許多亞裔雖然習慣了完全西化的生活，融入了白人的文化，可依然天生黃皮膚。這個詞預設了所有東西都是白的最好，即便亞洲人跪舔了白人的文化和語言，你們也得不到白色的皮膚。
Honky/Honkie
香港佬。對香港人的蔑稱。
Chow
黑鼻狗、中國狗，在某些場合或情況有污衊中國人的意思，比如：Hello Chow 就是 「你好中國佬」。
Ah Tiong
這個詞來源於中文發音的「阿中」，簡單來說就是對中國人、華人的輕蔑稱呼。
Dim Sum
根據點心佬發音而來，因為早期廣東華人在美國做廣東早茶點心的人很多。
Manzi
根據中文「蠻子」發音而來，白人對中國人的蔑稱之一。
ching chong、pingpong、tingtong
字面上並沒有特別含義，都是從中文發音感覺裡面模仿出來的擬聲詞，專門以此中文發音來歧視嘲笑中國人和華人。
Coolie
可能來自「苦力」一詞的發音，指沒有技能的亞裔勞力（unskilled Asian labour），來自於19世紀中國的鐵路勞工。它也是對印度與加勒比地區人的蔑稱。程度和nigger（黑鬼）差不多。
Chink
本意是「裂縫」，英語表達還有「slanteyes」（眯眼睛）。這個歧視性用於的來源猜測比較多，有人認為是因為中國人普遍眼睛顯得小，只有一條縫，所以用「裂縫」來進行歧視。有人認為這是來源於中國的清（Qing）朝的清字，還有的認為是從印歐語系中中國（如法語中的La Chine）這個詞進化而來。由Chink構成的美國俚語Chink in the Armor，其字面意思是「盔甲裡的中國鬼子」，實際用來比喻「某人身上的弱點」。
從眼睛形狀而來的歧視性說法還有：slant（斜眼）、coin slot（投幣口），slot machine（投幣機），two strokes（兩劃）等。
Bed time
字面上是睡覺的時間，成為華人或中國人的歧視性稱呼是也是形容亞洲人眼睛小、睜不開，就像快睡著了一樣。
moon-eyed leper
字面上是眼疾麻風病人，這個歧視性說法源自於原先美國人認為中國人、華人眼睛小且身體不好。類似的組合詞還有yellow-belly（黃肚皮）。
zipperhead
拉鏈頭。白人還認為中國人嘴巴小，笑起來像一條拉鏈。可以縮略為zipper（拉鏈）和zip（閉嘴）。
Panface
扁平臉。東方人的臉沒有歐洲人那樣高低起伏。同義的還有table face（平板臉）、panhead（大扁頭），pancake（煎餅）等。
Do my math homework
如果有人拿著戲謔的口吻說讓你幫他做數學作業，你可千萬別覺得他是想找你幫忙！用mathproblem（數學問題）說事的，一般都是認為中國人是書呆子，只會學習。
Dog eater
因為在他們印象裡中國人都是吃狗肉的，以此表明中國人的落後與野蠻。
Red Monkey
紅色猴子，具體為什麼說紅色，根據相關法律不予顯示。你懂的。
Baby-muncher
吃嬰族。他們認為中國舊社會最窮最饑荒的時候，中國人喜歡易嬰而食，他們以此侮辱中國人野蠻。
Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee是指李小龍、類似的還有Jackie Chan（成龍）、Jeremy Lin（林書豪），為什麼用名人的名字指代具體一個人是歧視呢？這個要根據語境判別一下，英文中很多時候這是諷刺亞洲人長得都一樣。
很多時候歧視並不會以語言的形式表達出來。在平等對待他人的路上，我們華人自己也還有很遠的路要走。前段時間，中國女孩Sylvia Wu因為病毒歧視，登上英國Channel 4新聞節目，公開講述自己因疫情在倫敦遭遇的歧視事件...面對歧視偏見，中國女孩向全英國發聲：我不是病毒！
Anchor: But one unpleasant repercussion of the global fear of the coronavirus has been a growing number of racist incidents experienced by Chinese and other Asian people, including here in the UK. Joining me now is Sylvia Wu, a Chinese citizen working in London, and Jessie Lau, a Hong Kong freelance journalist formerly based in Beijing, currently researching the coronavirus outbreak for us here at Channel 4 News. Sylvia, well we let me ask you first. You've had quite a distressing experience recently, haven't you? Just tell us about that.主持人：由新冠病毒肺炎引發的全球性恐慌所帶來令人不悅的影響之一，就是華人及其他亞裔群體在海外屢屢遭受種族歧視，其中就包括英國。今天的節目嘉賓是西爾維亞·鄔，她是一位在倫敦工作的中國公民，還有來自中國香港的傑西·劉，一位曾駐於北京的自由撰稿人，她目前供職於第四頻道新聞，為我們研究冠狀病毒的疫情爆發。西爾維亞，先來問你，聽說最近你有一段相當痛苦的經歷，可以給我們講述一下嗎？
Sylvia: Yeah, sure. So the past Saturday in afternoon, I was just walking out of a tube station in West London. And when I was working on my phone and then there was a voice just came to me and said, 『you didn't bring the virus from China, I hope』. And at that moment I was really shocked. I didn't know what happened. When I looked up and tried to find who said that sentence, I saw men staring at me and having this very judgemental expression on his face. And at that moment I felt really offended and insulted obviously, so I asked him to stop. After I walked away I didn't realise he actually followed me. And when I saw him again, he was just across the street and just swearing at me, giving me really not friendly finger gestures. And that's when I felt really upset, and really scared and hurt.
西爾維亞：好的。上周六下午，我從西倫敦的一個地鐵站走出來，當時我正在用手機工作，突然聽到一個聲音說，"但願你沒從中國把病毒帶來這裡"。我十分震驚，不知道發生了什麼，我抬起頭，想看看是誰說的這句話。我看見一個男人緊盯著我，滿臉都是嫌棄挑釁的表情。那一刻，我覺得自己受到了嚴重的冒犯和侮辱。我讓他別盯著我，之後我轉身離開，卻不知那人一直尾隨跟著我。當我發現他的時候，他站在馬路對面，衝我大罵髒話，還比劃一些侮辱性的手勢。那時我心裡特別難過，非常害怕也很受傷。
Anchor: Very intimidating. Did you think about reporting this?
主持人：非常可怕的經歷。你有想過舉報投訴那人嗎？
Sylvia: I actually thought about it. But to be honest I don't have very clear information about how should I do it. At that moment, I was thinking about report to the staff working in the tube station. But I also understand that's not their responsibility to deal with this situation.
西爾維亞：我確實有想過，但說實話，我不是很清楚該如何舉報。本來我有考慮過向地鐵站工作人員投訴，但我也明白，處理這種事情並不在他們的職責範圍內。
Anchor: What impact has it had on you this incident?
主持人：這件事對你造成了怎樣的影響？
Sylvia: It's really upsetting. It's really extremely upsetting to me. And because I've been living here for six years, London is my home now. And I think everyone is lovely, everyone treating me really lovely. But when this happened, you just start doubting is that true. Is everyone really thinking I'm a lovely person, or they just think I'm Chinese, I'm different to them? And especially after I share my experience on China social media, I got a lot of comments from my friends who also live in here said they had similar experience, people being rude to them, people just calling their names in the public. And that's when I feel like this situation really need to stop.
西爾維亞：非常沮喪，我真心感到非常沮喪。我在這裡生活了整整六年，倫敦就是我的家。我覺得這裡的人都很和善，大家對我也很友好，但這件事發生後，我就開始懷疑真的是這樣嗎？大家真的喜歡我，覺得我是個好人嗎？還是因為我是中國人，他們便認為我跟他們不同？尤其是我在中國社交媒體上分享了我這段經歷後，我收到了很多中國朋友的留言。他們也生活在英國，他們也都說遭到類似的歧視，被無禮對待，在公眾場合慘遭唾罵。我認為這種情況是時候停止了。
Anchor: Jessie, let me turn to you. Because you've been doing some research on this very issue and sadly Sylvia's case is a really distressing experience. It is not the only case you found, is it?
主持人：傑西，接下來問問你。因為你一直在研究疫情引發的種族歧視問題，西爾維亞的不幸遭遇是一段非常痛苦的經歷，但這並不是個案對嗎？
Jessie: No, it's definitely not an isolated incident. On Friday I actually put out a call on social media asking if people had received racist attacks related to the coronavirus. And in just a span of two days, I received 100 messages and responses. And just to share with you a couple. So there was one person who told me they were on the tube and they were trying to hold onto the handrail for stability and someone whacked their hand away and accused him of having the coronavirus; Multiple people have been yelled at and even spat on in public; There was a doctor who had his storefront of his medical practice graffitied over with the words 'coronavirus'. And this spike in racism is not happening just across the UK, but also globally. And it comes at a time when China's rise both politically and economically is causing a lot of geopolitical tension in many countries. There have been reports of restaurants in Vietnam and Japan and other countries refusing to serve Chinese customers. French and Australian newspapers have faced backlash for racist headlines. And in Indonesia there was a march near a hotel asking Chinese guests to leave. And for me myself, I've also received hate mail and messages from reporting on this story.
傑西：這絕對不是孤立的個案。上周五，我在社交媒體上發起對疫情發生後，華人遭遇種族歧視的新聞線索的徵集。僅僅兩天，我就收到了100條回復。我來分享幾個真實案例。有人告訴我，他們搭乘地鐵，想抓著扶手以防跌倒，手卻被人大力推開，還被指責攜帶新冠病毒；許多華人遭到當街唾罵，甚至被人當眾吐口水；還有一位華人醫生的診所大門，被人噴漆塗鴉寫著"新冠病毒"字樣。此類種族歧視事件的激增，不僅局限於英國，全世界都有。當前正值中國政治經濟崛起的年代，這更激發各國地緣政治的緊張局勢。據報導，在越南、日本及其他國家，有多家餐廳拒絕中國客人入內；法國和澳大利亞報紙上種族歧視的頭條標題，引發了強烈聲討；在印度尼西亞，當地人發起遊行要求酒店驅趕中國遊客。至於我自己，因為對這一現象的報導，我也收到許多煽動仇恨的郵件和信息。
