sure, but I feel it's a lot better to get your start as the cool nba star that slowly adjusts to the stand-up/entertainment world and then just naturally fits in after he retires than to be the 40 year old former star athlete that's trying to build connections with an audience that doesn't really know/care who you were.
staying in LA would have helped his development as an entertainer and would have helped gain familiarity with audiences so by the time he retires he doesn't enter the scene as an unknown
if he's good he'll make it either way, but the process would have probably been a lot more natural if he'd stayed in LA
