This standard specifies the degrees of protection (IP-Code) provided by enclosures of the electrical equipment of road vehicles, the requirements for each degree of protection and the tests.
This standard applies to the electrical system /module of road vehicles.

3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
外殼enclosure
能防止電氣電子設備受到外來物、水等外部影響，並在各個方向防止人體直接接觸內部的部件。
3.2
防護等級degree of protection
評定外殼對直接觸及、外來物和水所提供的防護程度。
3.3
防護等級代碼(IP 代碼） International Protection code
表示外殼抵禦直接觸及、外來物和水的防護等級以及相關附加信息的代碼。
3.4
危險部件hazardous part
接近或觸及時有危險的部件。
3.5
開口opening
外殼本身存在的或通過試驗器具施加規定的外力後形成的孔洞或縫隙。
