繪本賞析
普普是一隻很小的老鼠，
Pupu is a tiny mouse,
他和爺爺、奶奶、爸爸、媽媽，還有哥哥、姐姐，住在一間漂亮房子的一個小洞裡。
he lives with his grandpa, grandma, dad, mum, brother and sister, in a little hole of a beautiful house.
普普太小了，什麼家務都不會做。
Pupu is too little, he doesn’t know how to do any chores.
可是，他最會放屁了。
But, he is very good at farting.
普普放的屁是又響又臭。
Pupu’s farts are loud and smelly.
每次普普一放屁，全家人都連忙跑到洞口去躲屁，只剩下普普一個人在小小的洞裡。
Every time Pupu farts, the whole family runs to the hole entrance to escape the fart, leaving just Pupu in the hole.
有一次，普普又放屁。
Once, Pupu farted again.
大家躲到洞口去的時候，突然看見兇巴巴的大花貓站在那裡。
When everyone fled to the hole entrance, they saw the scary cat standing there.
大花貓露出尖尖的牙齒，嚇得大家又連忙躲回洞裡，捂住鼻子，好久都不敢呼吸呢！
The big cat showed his sharp teeth, scaring everyone back inside the hole, holding their noses, not daring to breathe for ages!
有一天早上，普普的家人準備出去找食物。
One morning, Pupu’s family decided to go looking for food.
普普在一旁小聲地說：「爸爸，我可不可以跟你們去？」
Pupu said in a small voice 「Dad, can I go with you?」
「不行，」哥哥搶著說，「要是找到了食物，你也搬不動啊！」
「No,」 His big brother said 「if we found food, you wouldn’t be able to carry it anyway」
「就是嘛，」姐姐接著說，「你走得那麼慢，萬一走丟了怎麼辦？」
「That’s right，「 His big sister added 「you walk so slowly, what if you got lost?」
普普聽了，失望地低下頭來。
Pupu heard them and lowered his head in disappointment.
爸爸看了看普普說：「普普也一塊去吧！只要小心一點就好了！」
Dad looked at Pupu and said 「Pupu can go as well! Just be careful!」
嗯……有一股好香的味道哦！
Mmmmm...that smells good!
大家跟著香味走，普普跟著大家走。
Everyone followed the nice smell, Pupu followed everyone.
香味愈來愈濃，愈來愈濃——哇！找到食物了！
The tasty smell grew stronger and stronger -- wow! They found food!
大家捲起袖子，準備把這個香香的東西搬回去。
Everyone rolled up their sleeves, preparing to carry this nice-smelling
thing home.
突然，「噗！」普普放屁了！哥哥和姐姐吱吱叫了起來。
Suddenly, 「pooh!」 Pupu farted! His big brother and big sister squeaked.
叫聲吵醒了大花貓，嚇得大家拼命跑回洞裡，什麼食物也沒搬到。
The noise woke the cat, everyone ran back to the hole, with no food.
「你看吧！叫你不要去，你就不聽！」哥哥氣呼呼地說。
「Look! We told you not to go, you didn’t listen!」 Big brother said in a huff.
姐姐也氣得臉紅通通的：「都是你啦！什麼都不會，只會放屁！」
Big sister was angry and red-faced :」It’s all your fault! You don’t know how to do anything except fart!」
這時，大家聽到大花貓「喵——喵——」大叫的聲音。
Just then, everyone heard the cat’s loud 「Meow!」 「Meow!」
大家跑到洞口一看，那個香香的東西被大花貓吃掉了！
Everyone ran to the hole entrance to see the nice-smelling thing had been eaten by the cat!
原來，那是貓主人用來害老鼠的，吃了會肚子痛呢！
As it turns out, that stuff is what the cat owner uses to poison mice with, if you eat it you』d get a stomach ache!
爸爸說：「幸好我們沒把它搬回來！」
Dad said 「Thankfully we didn’t bring it home!」
媽媽說：「幸好大花貓來了！」
Mum said 「Thankfully the cat came!」
哥哥說：「幸好我們吵醒了大花貓！」
Big brother said 「Thankfully we woke the cat!」
姐姐說：「幸好我們吱吱叫了起來！」
Big sister said 「Thankfully we squeaked!」
奶奶笑了一笑，說：「幸好啊，普普放了屁！」
Grandma smiled and said 「Thankfully Pupu farted!」
大家你看我，我看你，又看了看普普，說：「是啊！都是普普的功勞呢！」
Everyone looked at each other, then at Pupu and said 「Yes! It’s all thanks to Pupu!」
普普不好意思地抓了抓頭，開心地笑了！
Pupu scratched his head shyly and broke into a happy smile!
