大學介紹：
英吉利理工大學是英格蘭東部最大的高等學府之一，1858年建校，師資1085名，學生總數10316名，其中全日制學生6429名。大學擁有3個校園，分別在劍橋、埃塞克斯的赫利姆福德和布拉德福德，從校園往倫敦乘火車只需1小時，可搭乘公共汽車或火車來往機場，方便快捷。大學提供廣泛的學習資源及教育性服務，如專科圖書館、公開使用的計算機室、先進的實驗室、藝術製作室、計算機輔助設計。

APU (Anglia Polytechnic University) has its roots in the 19th century. In 1858, John Ruskin established a school of art which, in a later form, became part of the university. More recent roots lie in the amalgamation of the Essex Institute of Higher Education and the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology in 1989 to form Anglia Higher Education College which became a polytechnic two years later and, after another year, was awarded university status, becoming known as APU - a full history can be found here. 'Polytechnic' is retained in the university's title as APU is 'proud of its traditions' and to have been a polytechnic, and also perhaps as a way of preventing confusing it with the University of East Anglia, UEA, located in Norwich.
Today APU has approximately 21,000 students and is still continuing to grow. APU's main campuses can be found in the two East Anglian towns of Cambridge and Chelmsford. In Chelmsford there are two APU campuses approximately 10 minutes walk apart. Another campus has recently been opened in Benfleet, Essex (PDF).
There are in all nine schools of study, which are further sub-divided into more specific departments, offering several choices of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and many different types of qualifications can be attained, such as HNDs and Foundation Degrees.
Student life at APU depends on where you study. Both main campuses have their attractions, although Cambridge is more oriented towards students. Housing costs also depend on which site you attend.
Prominent subjects include nursing and social sciences, and the Guardian rated its courses in applied social work and anatomy and physiology highly.
As well as local students, APU attracts a high proportion of mature students who already have post-school qualifications such as degrees and diplomas.
The weather in this part of England can be unpleasant, but the area clearly has something going for it as a high proportion of students come from within 50 miles - 69% in 1997/98. In the same year, only 25% lived in university accommodation.
The cartoonist Ronald Searle attended the Cambridge School of Art (one of APU's earlier incarnations). Searle was born in Cambridge and enjoyed productive links with students at Cambridge University.
