The Events Office is tasked with maximising commercial income from the use of university space, particularly during the summer vacation period.
The main purpose of this role is to provide frontline operational and administrative support for the Events Office - primarily with residential Language Schools and other summer accommodation guests, ensuring that first-class customer services is provided to all on-site visitors.
The role will provide administrative and frontline operational support, as well as interpreter services for the Events Office. Some aspects of the role are repetitive and involve monitoring areas against standards.
PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The role will provide administrative and frontline operational support, as well as interpreter services for the Events Office. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Team Specific:
• Act as an interpreter (Mandarin/English written and spoken) for EAP (English for Academic Purposes) students who are learning English prior to their study at the University in September and any others as required. There will be around 200 students who will have arrived from China for this course.
• Responsible for translation of signage, health & safety briefings/accommodation briefings and any other meetings for the students where an interpreter would be beneficial.
• On-call for check-in on scheduled arrival/departure days (evening, weekend work).
• Health & Safety checks in accommodation blocks on a daily basis.
• Maintain logbook to be reviewed daily by Events Office.
• Operate an enquiry helpdesk for Mandarin speaking students during the evening at the Events Office.
• Liaison between the students and internal university departments: Housekeeping, Security, Maintenance, IT, Accommodation and Events Office as required.
• General administration as required by the Events Coordinator.

• Liaison with all internal and external clients as required by the Events Coordinator.
• Liaison with key internal personnel on site, including Housekeeping, Security, Catering, Accommodation, Maintenance and IT.
