前綴用來改變詞根的意思，而後綴一般來說用來改變詞根的詞性。assure，ensure 和 insure 有共同的詞根 sure，看上去意思差不多，但實際上它們所表達的意思有很大不同。
一、assure 意為」使確信，向…保證「，表示為了鼓舞士氣或使某人對自己的信仰和想法充滿信心，例如：
Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.
不要擔心你在數學上的困難。我可以向你保證我的更偉大。
Suzanne assured Robby that his report to the board was excellent.
蘇珊娜向羅比保證，他給董事會的報告非常好。
二、ensure 意為」保證，擔保，確保「，相當於 insure 或 guarantee，例如：
Billy was to ensure that the computer was packed safely.

He double-checked the stove to ensure it was off before leaving on vacation.

三、insure 意為」投保，給…保險，承保「，表示籤發保險單，在發生盜竊、損失、損壞或死亡時提供賠償，例如：

三、它們的區別
只有 assure 在某種意義上來說有讓某人充滿信心的含義，而 ensure 和 insure 沒有。ensure 和 insure 是同義詞，通常可以互換，但是在美式英語的商業保險業中只能用 insure。
