ensure, insure, assure和reassure是四個容易混淆的動詞。
它們來自同一詞根sure（確定的），所以它們大概的意思都是「使……安心，確定」。
01ensure和insure
它們讀音相同，在口頭上人們會混著用，就算是媒體上我們也經常看到它們被互換著使用。請看路透社的報導：
Securities and Exchange Commission to call for a meeting of Wall Street executives toinsure 「continuous and orderly」 functioning of the markets.
美國證券交易委員會將召開一次華爾街高管會議，以確保市場「持續有序」運行。
我們這裡只從標準用法來對它們加以區別：
ensure「保證;擔保;確保」
I will ensure that the car arrives by six o'clock.
我保證汽車六點前到達。
The price is low to ensure a quick sale.
售價低是為了保證快速銷售。
I cannot ensure his being on time.
我不能保證他準時到。
insure「投保;給…保險;接受投保;承保」，經濟術語
It is almost like insurance without being insured.
這幾乎就像沒有投保的保險。
That means your savings are insured by the government, up to certain limits, if the bank fails.
這意味著，如果銀行倒閉，你的存款在一定限度內由政府兜底承兌（保證兌付）。
我們可以這樣理解，在經濟領域，不分ensure和insure；其他領域用ensure。

02ensure和assure
assure「使確信;向…保證;確保;使確定」
兩者區別主要看搭配：
ensure是保證，擔保什麼東西；後面跟名詞（物）或that從句
assure是向某人保證什麼，後面跟somebody，再跟名詞（物）或that從句
Please ensurethat you purchase your ticket in advance.
請務必提前買票。
The possession of large amounts of money does not ensurehappiness.
坐擁巨額財富並不能保證幸福。
I can assureyou（that）there was no intention to mislead our insurers.
我可以向你保證，我們無意誤導保險公司。
I won't let you down, I can assureyouofthat.
我保證不會讓你失望的。
但是，assure sb後面沒有of，甚至沒有somebody也比較常見。
Victory would assure（them）aplacein the finals.
勝利將確保（他們）在決賽中佔有一席之地。
The only ladder to assuresuccessis to work hard.
確保成功的唯一途徑是努力工作。
難以決定用哪個，還是儘量按照標準用法來用。

reassure「使…安心;打消…的疑慮」
reassure是assure前加了表示「反覆，一再」的前綴。
我們可以理解為「一再向…保證」，就是為了「使…安心;打消…的疑慮」。
It won't happen overnight, but I can assure you it will one day.
這不會立刻發生，但我可以向你保證，總有一天會發生的。
I assure you my actions will correspond with my words.
我向你保證，我言出必行。
Restassured「放心」
You can rest assured that your children are in good hands.
你可以放心，你的孩子們都得到很好的照顧。
Rest assured that we will go.
放心，我們會去的。
The doctor reassuredme that my mother would be okay.
醫生讓我放心，我媽媽會沒事的。
He didn't need to go to hospital, but he went just to reassurehimself.
他不需要去醫院，他去那只是使自己放心。
Dave could see how worried she was, and he tried to reassureher.
戴夫知道她有多擔心，他試著安慰她。
