新學年剛剛開始，又一批中國留學生滿心期待的踏上了北美求學生涯。然後，有人先離開了。。。
9月22日美國時間下午5時，
西北大學18歲中國的中國留學生邱楚圓（Chuyuan Qiu）剛剛開學才三天，撞上一輛水泥大卡車後，慘遭捲入輪底當場死亡。
這宗死亡車禍的發生，讓所有師生無不感到惋惜與震驚。
CBS的報導：
Around 5 p.m. Thursday, Qiu was riding her bike west on Northwestern Place when she crashed into a cement truck headed north on Sheridan Road. Police said the truck driver had a green light at the time, Qui rolled under the truck after the collision.
報導稱，這起事故發生在謝爾登路（Sheridan Rd.）和加勒特廣場（Garrett Place）之間。
事故實際是發生在西北大學校園附近，當時邱楚圓正騎著自行車由東向西行，而一輛從南向北的水泥卡車剛好經過發生碰撞。
消防救護人員趕到時，邱楚圓已經沒有了意識，並且身上多處傷痕。。。在送往醫院後，邱楚圓被確認死亡。
之後醫院通過郵件與西北大學確認了邱楚圓的身份。
邱楚圓是中國牛校南京外國語學校2015屆的學生，被西北大學錄取。當時南外七位顏值高、氣質佳的學霸女生被稱為＂七仙女＂，邱楚圓就是其中之一。
大家熟悉的京東老闆劉強東的太太＂奶茶妹妹＂章澤天就是畢業於南京外國語學校。

當地負責事件調查的警官Richard Eddington表示，這起悲劇的原因可能是學生可能誤判了卡車車身長度，女學生應該是撞上卡車後輪倒下，才被捲入輪底致命。
警方稱，死者在事故發生之前並沒有佩戴頭盔。由於目前沒有證據顯示38歲的卡車司機違反交通法規，因此並未向肇事卡車開出任何罰單。
消息一出，網上一片嘆息。。。
從北京東路小學到考上南京外國語學校，再被美國西北大學錄取。從小到大，邱楚圓一直是大人口中那個＂別人家的孩子＂，學兼優，深受師生的喜愛。
2015年，作為南外的優秀畢業生，邱楚圓曾和一同被美國名校錄取的6位女生被稱為＂南外七仙女＂。
悲劇發生後，西北大學校方高度重視，稱將為邱楚圓舉行悼念活動，同時取消校內所有迎新活動。目前，校方已在與其家屬溝通善後事宜。
西北學生辦公室主任給每一個西北學生、教授發送了悼念郵件。原文如下：
Following is a message that was sent to all students last night regarding the unfortunate death of a Northwestern University student. The University extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our student, Chuyuan Qiu.
Message from Todd Adams, Dean of Students
It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you that first-year Weinberg student, Chuyuan 「Chu」 Qiu, passed away earlier today after being involved in a bicycle-vehicle accident on Sheridan Road. Chu joined our community this fall and was originally from Nanjing China. She was a member of the Kaplan Humanities Scholars Program. Information about memorial services will be shared as it becomes available.
We extend our deepest condolences to Chu’s family and friends. The loss of any one member of our community affects us all, and it does so in different ways. Grieving is normal when experiencing loss, and our friends and colleagues can be helpful in lending an ear or giving their time, particularly when we let them know it is needed. For students who need support during this difficult time – either now or at any point in the days and weeks ahead – I urge you to reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Dean of Students Office and/or the Chaplain’s staff. CAPS is providing grief counseling and the Dean’s Office is available should you need other assistance. You can also find additional services and resources at NUhelp or on the NUhelp app.
I am always thankful to be part of the Wildcat family during times like this. We are a community that supports one another. As we remember Chuyuan, we must take care of ourselves and each other. Please let my colleagues and I know if we can be of help to you.
