A viral video of a turf war between a group of basketball players and a group of dancing aunties/uncles has sparked debate on Chinese social media with netizens wondering if anyone will be able to stop the scourge of China's troublesome square dancers of a certain age.
The video, taken on Wednesday evening at a Luoyang park, shows the moment that a feud blew up as a verbal argument between one shirtless basketball player and a group of more than a dozen aunties and uncles escalated into fisticuffs with the two sides fighting for possession of the park's basketball court. Quickly, the single basketball player was swarmed by his angry elders.
Following the fracas, police stepped in, taking one of the uncles away and closing the court down until further notice.

In this heated war, the vast majority of netizens have sided with the ballers over the dancers. "You can only play basketball on a basketball court. You can find somewhere else to dance," argues one Weibo user.
It turns out that this situation had been escalating for the previous four days before finally boiling over. Videos of the group of dancing aunties occupying a huge swath of the court at the expense of the basketball players have gone viral online, causing even more web users to speak out against the dancing auntie scourge that has taken over public spaces around the country.
"These aunties are full of shit. When they get on the bus they act like their legs are feeble, but they spend all night dancing around," one Weibo user commented.
Over the years, the dancing aunties have been reported, regulated and even shot. But all for naught, it seems that no one can stop the music.
