現實終於對貪吃的小貓咪下手了
像機場或者邊境口岸設置的臉部識別系統，能將人臉與文件上的照片和身份匹配起來。中國臺灣發明家宋穆奇（音譯：Mu-Chi Sung）突然奇想，認為這套隱秘技術也可以用到不怎麼愛配合人類的其他生物身上：比如他的貓。
宋調整了面部識別系統，並把它裝配到了自己所發明的智能貓咪餵食系統「小餐館」（Bistro）上。「小餐館」的主要結構是一個透明的塑料外殼，裡面放置了食物和水，外殼的開口大小隻夠讓一隻貓的頭伸進去。傳感器會測量一隻貓到底吃了多少。「小餐館」的目標用戶是養了多隻貓的家庭，如此一來相機會通過對貓臉的識別來確定是哪只貓在進食。主人也因此能知道哪只肥貓在狼吞虎咽，而其他溫順的同伴則在挨餓……[查看全文]
Feline Facial Recognition Overcomes Kitty Overconsumption
Facial recognition systems match a face, for example, at an airport or border crossing, with a photo and identity on file. Now Taiwan inventor Mu-Chi Sung thinks that this stealthy technology could also be used with other potentially uncooperative individuals—his cats.
Sung adapted facial recognition so it could be part of his Bistro smart cat feeder. Bistro features food and water dishes inside a clear plastic enclosure big enough for a cat to slip its head in. Sensors measure how much the cat consumes. Bistro’s target is multi-cat households, so a camera studies the cat’s face to determine which feline is feeding.
