Welcome Mr. Michael Chang coming to Tsinglan

Michael Chang, born on February 22nd, 1972, was an American born Chinese professional tennis player.  He won 34 professional single titles, including a Grand Slam Title, French Open, in 1989 when he made the magic come back from 0-2 against Stefan Edberg. His fighting spirit as a sportsman should be respected by every athlete.

Starting at the age of 6, Michael Chang made a name for himself when he won the national title at the age of 12 and held many 「youngest ever」 records. In his 16 year-long career, Mr. Chang accumulated a great deal of achievements, and the best among them must be the 1989 French Open Title. French Open is, also known as Roland-Garros, the most important tournament in the Clay season, attracting excellent players from all over the world including defending champion Mats Wilander, world No.1 player Ivan Landl and six times Grand Slam winner Stefan Edberg.

At the age of 17, in his first Grand Slam appearance, facing Stefan Edberg, Michael Chang was not favored by the media predicting that Michael Chang had little chance on winning the title. Indeed, the first two sets went as the media predicted. Down 0-2, Michael Chang did not give up and fought back strong, and he made the come back and won the French Open, holding record of the youngest Grand Slam title winner ever since. He also became the first American to win the French Open since 1955 and the first American ever to win a Grand Slam title ever since 1984. Michael Chang maintained a high level of competitiveness in tennis, and his ranking reached the world No.2 in 1996.

After retirement, Michael Chang continued to dedicate his time to promote tennis world wide as well as on training teenagers and coaching the professionals. In 2017, Michael Chang partnered up with Love Tennis Academy and paid a visit to China. During his time in China, Michael Chang shared his stories about tennis and his understanding of the game with the audience.

Tsinglan tennis team has been founded for two years. Though and inexperienced, our students are eager to learn more about tennis, looking forward to competing for the school in the years to come.
