As a member of VAV, an organization that aims to build a bridge between international and domestic students in the university, I obtained the opportunities to plan out certain projects such as the trip to Anji last semester.
Being a part of VAV is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I was devastated thinking that my ongoing experience in VAV was hindered due to the epidemic. I thought that the organization would not be active, at least not until this sorrowful outbreak ends, but I was completely wrong.
Like many other organizations, VAV thrives to keep the spirits alive. In the case of the Travelling Programme, the programme that I am currently in, we came up with different activity ideas that the students could still participate in spite of the condition.
One of them that has been successfully accomplished is the online V(irus)log Competition, which was a competition where candidates uploaded a vlog of their daily life during the outbreak. I have also seen other online events held by other programmes in VAV such as the photography competition for instance.
It is fascinating how all of the members search for ways to overcome this difficulty. I was also surprised that the President, Vice President, and managers elections were not postponed. All of
the VAV members were invited into a WeChat Work meeting and the candidates gave their speech professionally there.
The election was even made more intense with debates and question and answer sessions. This was my first experience being a part of an election virtually and I could definitely feel the spirit of VAV even from home. Up until today, despite not being physically present at the university, I am still able to engage in different activities from home and not just solely focus on online learning.
What I am trying to point out is that UNNC has laid a strong foundation for the students to thrive together in fighting this epidemic and I could not be more happy.
