This is a phrase you』ll hear in Britain and Ireland a lot when talking about techno. If someone is a 『no-nonsense』 dj playing 『no-nonsense』 techno it means they are getting right to the heart of what techno is all about. They’re not showing off and they’re not playing watered down music. They’re playing tough and percussive techno that’s full of energy.

Sunil Sharpe is the personification of no-nonsense. He’s a dj rooted in his vinyl records who mixes freely and frentically between tracks, consistently working explosive dancefloors. Absolutely no f++king about.

Who is Sunil Sharpe 是誰？
Sunil Sharpe is now one of Europe's most renowned and well-loved techno DJs. He gained a big reputation for his DJing in the early '00s and it was this reputation that led to being invited to play at Berlin's Tresor Club which in turn marked the start of complete imersion in the techno scene. These days Sharpe regularly plays at all of the top gigs around Europe such as Berghain, Fabric, Concrete, Sub Club, Glastonbury and .... well you name it, he's done it. He was support DJ on the first two Karenn European tours, the last of which was marked by his now classic set in London, the first of his three banging Boiler Rooms.

Having always been known as a fast-moving, skillful DJ around the mixer, Sunil's reputation as a producer of raw, individualistic techno, has grown and grown in recent years. He has appeared on labels such as Brothers, Trensmat and Rave or Die.

He also runs the Earwiggle label that has built a dedicated following, releasing new names and old heroes into the battlefield. With Earwiggle he has also setup 『On The Hoof,』 a label dedicated specifically to his own productions and collaborations with friends.

Not content with all of that, Sunil also makes up one half of Tinfoil alongside fellow Dublin-based producer DeFeKT. Having starting out as a studio partnership in 2014 they have developed into a rocking live show.

Sunil's application to techno and the scene in general, pushes far beyond the standard DJ/producer mould. Enjoying a long stint in pirate radio from his early days of active DJing, Sunil joined national station RTÉ 2fm in 2007, where he has since offered up a monthly mix of new music. The show has also been characterized by in-depth interviews with the likes of Jeff Mills, Surgeon, Blawan and many others.

Sunil has also devised a new format for playing/reviewing new music in "The Quarterly Crate". Now in its third year, the hugely informative video series supplies a special insight into his most recent vinyl acquisitions.
